you don't bother me ; but i have the impression that you ask questions here because you're too lazy to read the doc and learn a bit by yourself (i'm certainly wrong then).

also, i don't understand when you say "I have a menu which belongs to IDR_MAINFRAME identifier.". IDR_MAINFRAME is commonly the ID of the application's main icon in the resource file (.rc).

you say you don't have a CMenu. but you're using MFC, right ?
here's what you have to do then. in the event handler "click in the menu item", construct a temporary CMenu which reflects the menu clicked, identifies the item clicked, and then use the method indicated previously to deactivate it...

Hi,

CMenu* m = AfxGetMainWnd()->GetMenu();
CMenu* s = m->GetSubMenu(2);
s->EnableMenuItem(ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW, MF_BYCOMMAND |
MF_DISABLED | MF_GRAYED);
I above code did not disable the menu item ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW

I have written this code in the function which handles the ID ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW
so once the ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW is selected the next time it should be grayed.

so I posed the question

just a guess. have you tried to place a breakpoint in the debugger and see if the code is executed ?

Hi,
Yes the code is executed but there is no effect on the identifier ID.
Apparently it should immediately turn gray

Correct me if I am wrong

i wrote a MDI application..i have given an extension .sam..i have serialized the data..saved the document on the disk..When i double click on the file..by default..i want it to be opened by my application..how to do it..?

If the application was created by AppWizard, this should happen automatically. There should be a .reg file in your project. You should also have calls to EnableShellOpen() and RegisterShellFileTypes() in the app's InitInstance() method.

I like to manage windows like this using a list (CPtrList, CTypedPtrList, etc.) so I always
know what windows are in existence. With only 4 views you can just keep 4 pointer variables
for the windows then use SetFocus or whatever to activate the appropriate window through its
pointer. Way easier than enumerating child windows to find the appropriate window to activate.

Hi,
Im using Borlan c++ builder, and want to know how can i direct all network traffic from/to my computer through a program which will be like a buffer.
I think its kind of a proxy.

i know how to use ClientSocket / ServerSocket but dont know how to force the traffic into going through such proxy , i tried changing default gateway address but it makes trouble.

Using "raw socket" is the way to see all incoming/outgoing traffic from your application. I'm not sure if you can manipulate the packets this way, but surely you can see every single packet, even non-data transfer stuff (when a connection is established or terminated)

It's the other way round. You can create multiple projects for a single workspace (at least in VC++ 6.0). Smile | :)

I'm having some nasty problems with the MFC class CFileDialog. I'm simply trying to use it to get the name of a selected file and put it in a text edit box. I have done this many times before and have never had this sort of problem. Here is the code that is producing the error:

IDC_FILELOC is the id of the editbox and m_strloc is the variable of the edit box.

When I press the 'browse' (which calls void CUpload::OnBrowse() button the CFileDialog is created and DoModal() is called (causing the dialog to appear). It then lets me select a file. If I press 'Open' it returns IDOK and the file name gets put into the text edit box. If I select 'Cancel' IDCANCEL is returned and anything inside the text edit box is cleared (as it should be). The error doesn't occur untill the destructor is called. Which of course happens when the CFileDialog goes out of scope as soon as the function. Everything I have before then works correctly (I used message boxes to stop determine the point just before it crashes). I even commented out everything but the constructor and still got an error when the destructor is called.

The error message it says when the program crashes when I run it through the debugger says, "Unhandled exception in File Splitter.exe (KERNEL32.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation."
