Reading Hieght and Width From Image File without opening

Does anyone have an example of how to read the Height and Width of a JPG file
using .NET and c# BUT without loading the image into memory?

I have seen examples in C++ but have failed to translate the code. I know I
need to read the binary file stream and look for the headers but have still
got problems doing this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I need to launch a ClickOnce application from another application. Any ideas on how I could do this? I don't really want to use a whole webbrowser control etc. and navigate to the URL.

Data hiding is just a means by which one hides away data from the external world... example, the lungs of a person is not seen by anyone, but used for the internal working of the human being!

Data Encapusation allows to package all the contents of the object. They may or may not be public to the external world. Example, the skin is part of the human, and so is the lung. Together all the components of the human make up one whole being!

And finally Data Abstraction is the means by which one displays only what is required to the user. Sample - the mood of a person to a girl, a snake, a cat, a father, or a boss. Though they are all emotions, they differ based on the stimuli, and hence a portion of the whole is displayed to the person who requests it.

I am using the DataGridView control in a WinForm. (Visual Studio 2005)
One of the columns is of this type:

DataGridViewComboBoxColumn
cbo = new DataGridViewComboBoxColumn();
cbo.DataSource = dt; //DataTable
cbo.DisplayMember = "User";
cbo.ValueMember = "IDUser";
dataGridView1.Columns.Insert(0, cbo);

Now, How to I can access to the properties of each comboBox? (SelectIndex, SelectValue, SelectText, ...)
The FindControl() method is only available in web applications.

Its for my AR DS code editor, i need to open an XML (or TXT) file thats on the internet, but i havn't done anything with the internet in C# yet, so i have no idea what to do

You have to request the file from the web server. Use the HttpWebRequest class.

I think that you have to be more specific in your question.

What is it that you want to create a map of? The user? The desktop? Something else? What is it that you want the map to show?

Hi!
You can use the Environment.GetFolderPath() method with Environment.SpecialFolder.DesktopDirectory as parameter to get the path to the current user's desktop.
Then it's just a matter of Directory.CreateDirectory()...

Request the page with the form, then parse the code to find the form tag and the fields in the form. Contruct the form data to post depending on the form fields, and use the POST method to send the form data in another request.

I'm developing an servie/application thats reads pictures form diferent sources. Now I need a good way stream new pictures to users as new pictures arrive.

Any one having a good idea how to implement such a solution? I appreciate any idea. Smile | :)

Animation?
Movie?

Hello

I don't really have a grip of what you want to do, yet I think Web Services will suit you best.

1- Make a web service
2- AS new pictures arrive to your storage -whatever it is-, update your status -maybe an xml file with the date/time and file names of latest picture?-
3- Now the client desktop app will be in contact with the web service on intervals -seconds, minutes, whatever suits you-, to read the xml sent by the web service -something like RSS feeds-.
4- Now when the client finds a suitable download, it can send a request to the webservice to stream that picture. It will be a simple matter of transfering a file, and I think displaying a picture won't be an issue.

I hope I got you right.

You have understood what I want to do, but I was hoping to find a solution without polling. It could be like watching an avi-file with only one frame per 5 minutes. Smile | :)

Or waiting for an event to trigger, and then read a new file from the WS. As I'm writing this I start to think about SQL Notification Services. Anyone that knows about it? Will it be suitable in this senario?
