I need to capture the browser close event( when user clicks the 'X' button on top right) to confirm from the user if he wants to save the data on current page. I am able to capture the event by window.obeforeunload = ConfirmOnClose(this is name of function). Now when the user clicks on "Yes" to save the data, i use the method __doPostBack to call the server method to save my information. The problem i am faced with now is that a Default Message Box of window also prompts up to ask the user
"Are you sure you want to navigate away from the page.
Press Ok to continue or Cancel to stay on the current page."
This message box is not needed and i want to supress it.
I have tried to do window.opener='', but that also doesnot help.
I am using Asp.net 2.0 environment.
I need it very urgent. All suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I am using system.web.mail
i have 6 dropdownlist in my page. user can select value from all 6 drop down list.
each drop down list selection will send email to relevant department.
if the drop down is not selected it should not send email to particular department when its dropdown is not selected
i dont know how could i do this
i used if else clause but it seems its not picking up those email address. my code below

AS per my understanding your problem is that you have to send the email to all the mail address which are selected in 6 dropdown list. If 5 of them are selected then you have to send 5 mails.
If that is the case then you have to create one mail object for each selected droupdown and then in each if condition you have to send the mail for each mail address if the values are selected.
Please let me know

Cant we actually add to CC with single mail object for eg.
if ddSelectone.selected <> nothing then
mailobj.CC = 'abc@test.com'
end if
if ddSelecttwo.selected <> nothing then
mailobj.cc = 'abc1@test.com'
end if
and so forth
please advise. why my this logic isnt working

Hi
Im very much a beginner with Asp.
I have a site that I would like to open an edit, but what ide is best? Tried Vs studio by just going >Open Project but cant get access to any of the files.
Used Visual Web Developer but when I view a page with browser an error occurs saying This type of page is not served. And it has been explicitly forbidden.
Please if someone could point me in the right direction. Would greatly appreciate it.

If you are refering to the right-click pop-up then you can disable it. Google for it.
But you can't disabled the main menu options, unless you open the page in a pop-up with no buttons and menus. But the user will still be able to press ctrl+s and save the page.
In short: you can't prevent the user from saving the page (afterall if he is able to see it it is already somewhere on his computer). If you don't want your users to save some information then don't put it on the internet.

Hi,
I have created a asp.net application.when i try to execute the application, I am getting this error.
Access to the path "c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files\webApplication1\5163874c\83859bc7" is denied.
While searching the net,i found this solution.
To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.
But I do not have the security tab when i right click the properties of the file.
I have tried reinstalling the iis and also the VS.Net.
Any help on this please.

I think you need to right click on the directory your files are in, and edit its security properties, not the file.
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.

Thanks bob for your response.I did not have the security tab in my properties of the directory too. However i fixed that problem now.
I have set the full rights to the asp.net account.But still when i execute my web application,I am getting the same error.

When the system is not in the domain, the “simple file sharing” is enabled by default.
“Sharing and security” tabs in the properties Menu of a folder resemble a complex way of sharing a folder.
Resolution:
Go to Folder Options.
Go to “View” Tab; uncheck the box against “Enable Simple Sharing (Recommended).
Then, you will be able to view the “Security” tab in the properties menu of a folder.

Does there exist a Drupal module to show adsense/code of administrator's choosing automatically for every node on the Drupal system, without having to add tags to each piece of content?
I hacked one together and put it here: adinline module
Please let me know if this was reinventing the wheel. If it is, where can I find the already existing module?
Also, what are everyones thoughts on using Drupal in general? It's pretty plain compared to the other CMS out there, but I like how it's clean and easy to modify. It's developer-friendly.

Hi,
When i browse my webpage it contains some data. I want to transfer this data to the other exe which is continous running in backend. I want to use Push Technology (means my webpage transfer the data to my (VC++)exe).
Actually i also not sure which plateform is best for this webpage. (ASP,PHP or JAVA Appletes is good for this) ?

Do you need to transfer the data directly to the application, or could you do it via some temporary storage? If you for an example use a database where you store the incoming data, you will not lose any data if the application happens to be busy when the data arrives.
Most any platform could store data in a database. Java applets can not be used as a web platform, I suppose that you mean JSP?
If you need to communicate more directly with the program, that is easier using a platform like ASP.NET (or perhaps JSP, but I know too litte about it to say anything about it's more advanced capabilities).

I am new to asp and though my question may sound inane, please take out time to reply asap.
I have to access key/value pairs defined in .config file from .asp page.
I tried many ways but it is giving compilation and syntax errors.
these are the errors i am getting:

windows can store your logon information for network locations and web sites
in Control panel->user Account->manage my network password->> (Stored User Name and Password)
and you can see this informatin in a list and if you click properties you can see
server name & user name & password.
can add new entry and change them or remove if you want
How can i retreive the list of server name & username for all stored account
(put them in dropdownlist or saved them on DataBase)
using asp.net or vb.net code

Hi,
We have a web page with a menu on the left hand side of master page . On
click of the menu, we want some content to be displayed but
without the whole page getting refreshed.
Using frames is one alternative but we are not game for that due to UI limitations. Will Atlas solve my
issue? And if so can some one please let me know how? Any other
solution is also most welcome.
