In the Above javascript i want to set the display Attributeto "none" for all div tags,but its not working because of the Attribute(contentEditable) given in parent tag(body)..is there any solution to make the child tag(div tag) display="none" when parent have contentEditable Attribute...

I posted this in the C++ forum, but it turns out that was the wrong place for it. I appologize if you end up reading it in both forums.
I'm trying to download the html for the forum pages here on CP, so that I can pull out the messages and do something with them(i.e. sort, search, display, etc.)
When I use view source in I.E. the messages(the text i am typing now) are in the html, however, when i download the html using wininet the bodies of the posts are missing. Only the titles appear in the html ("Different html with wininet than I.E." in the case of my post).
Anyone have any clue as to why this would happen? Is there some extra part of the url that i need to enter into wininet to get the correct version of the html?

The reason that the pages that you get are different, is that you are logged in when you browse to them, but not when you fetch the pages. You have to send the cookies along in the request when you fetch the pages, so that the server will recognise you and apply your settings when creating the page.

The cookies are getting sent. At least the log in one. when I fetch the home page, it says that i am loged in (this is using wininet.) Plus, wouldn't i still be able to view the bodies of forum posts(i.e. they would be in the html) even if I wasn't logged in?
Is there a special header I should be sending?

The site is probably identifying the browser that you are using, and when you fetch the pages there is no browser identification, so it removes the Javascript functionality as it doesn't know if it works.
If so, you have to mimic a specific browser by sending a HTTP_USER_AGENT header.

I hope one of you guys can help me out here because me and google are going through a divorce. I am creating a simple C++ tool to enable me to send emails. This part I have no problem with, but when it comes to SMTP I am lost. I am able to logon to "mx1.hotmail.com", I send the "HELO" or "EHLO", then the "AUTH LOGIN", the server then prompts me for a Username "334 VXNlcm5hbWU6". I respond to this with my base64 encoded email address "waldermort@hotmail.com". Trouble is the server doesn't respond and after a few seconds the connection is lost. I also tried using a simple "waldermort" as the username, the server proceeds as normal (asking for the password) but then informs me of a failed authentication.
Is there something I am doing wrong?

IPN is not a program. IPN is a feature Paypal offers to developers. With IPN, when someone pays you through paypal, an HTTP CGI post is initiated to the URL you specify. This URL would be some code; PHP, ASP, JPS etc, that you have had written that can receive that HTTP post, parse it, and do something useful with it.
Sounds to me like you need to find yourself a developer to code an IPN page. What kind of webserver do you have? Linux or Windows?

My hosting provider told me I was using too much memory (the CPU usage and bandwidth are ok though) with my .php pages. I have a client app making HTTP requests to the PHP pages which in turn query a MySQL database.
The rough structure of the PHP page is as shown below:

$db_conn = mysql_connect(DB_HOST,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORD)
or die(db_err('Unable to connect to database server'));
db_select_db(DB_NAME)
or die(db_err('Unable to select database'));
// DB queries, etc.

From reading the docs for mysql_connect() it would appear the connection should be closed automatically when the script finishes.
Do I need to add an explicit close? I was thinking of adding the below:
mysql_close($db_conn);
$db_conn = NULL;
Should the above do the trick? Is there something else I need to do?

Your high memory usage is probably coused by bad queries or bad database design which couses the MySQL server to do more work.
I am almost 100% sure that the problem is not in the MySql_Connect().

Hi everyone
I am trying to launch an application in the client's machine, here is what I did using ActiveX and Javascript (Only works for IE)
Does anyone know a way to do it without ActiveX so that it would work in other browser.

You can't do that without ActiveX. Maybe with Java.

Hi,
I would like to allow my registered users to create their own personal page(s) that they can style and use as they like. Their webpage would be www.mysite.com/johnFrank where johnFrank would be the user and his/her webpage. The only example I could think of that would be similar would be myspace. The only part that would be like myspace would be allowing the user to have their own webpage.

Hey Mate,
Well look the only logical way i could see you doing this:
Use PHP to customise the page dependent on the users custom settings (not in actually coding)
Call database "customisation"
Get user "johnFrank"
Get column "box1"
If box1= latest news then
call latest "news.xml"
parse
etc.
Also allow users to make their our custom css sheets (help them out with a wizard)
If your site supports PHP then why not set a cookie that customises your home page (http://www.mysit.com/) to their current user settings. 3 secs extra load but it will make your site even more interactive and usefull.
Sorry for the lack of actuall script but i'm on borrowed time as is.
