Hi! I'm verry new to asp.net, but i've worked before with C# and it's quite easy learning. one of the things i don't know is how to acces the data in App_Data folder. i have an .xml file i want to load into a dataset. the website works on localhost when i have the path set as "c:\\Project Data\\Denumiri.xml", another folder where i have my files. Still, i want to include the .xml files in the project and access them.

The ReadXml method is not specific for the web, so it doesn't use a logical path.

Use Server.MapPath("~/App_Data/Denumiri.xml") to get the physical path to the file.

it was useful... i compiled it and it works on localhost. still, i get an error when i try to run it remotely, on http://drcnoib.somee.com[^] . i've set the customerror mode="Off" in web.config, but i still get that error.
i think the error comes from page_load event:

hi,

How do I manually fire an ItemCommand Event in a datagrid.I have a page where i an using a user control datagrid.When I click the delete link in the grid I have a javascript jus to confirm the deletion..

After I click ok in the confirmation window...the item command event is not geting fired.

please help

Upload new modules
i) Each module consist of ascx (asp/net user controls) & programming script and database script – modules can be any programming/database (PHP/mySQL or ASP/mySQL or ASP/Access or PHP/Access or Asp.net/MS SQL etc etc ) – every time a new module is added the super admin can specify the programming and or database

(1) Admin should be able:
(a) to upload ascx controls for backend administration and PHP User Modules with database script file
(b) Publish Modules to all accounts or to select accounts only

Comment:- This Project is basically a CMS System. By using my application user can make his own site.In my specification there are certain PHP module which will be developed by the PHP Developer and I have to integrate these module with my Asp.Net Application.So user can directly use them into his own site.Not getting what to do with point.

I am building a web survey type tool. There is a "reward download" for completing the questionnaire. The Questionnaire result / answers are submitted to a web service, to be stored in the db. What I would like to do, is once the db work is complete - to "send" the file to the client.

The files are stored in DB BLOBs. I'd like to avoid writing them to disk (especially FTP-ing them somewhere and then redirecting the client to the file - that just seems messy...)

I'd like to cause an http response whereby the user sees the browser's standard file download dialogue?

I don't have a lot of experience with web services, but were this a plain old web form you would just have to get the blob from the database and store it in a database. Then use MemoryStream to stream it out to the client.

Thanks for the idea,

I gave it a whirl using an MP3 file with nonsense extension ".qwe" - IE just wrote the bytes' ASCII equivalents to the page... It seems to behave the same with Response.WriteFile and Response.TransmitFile

If you could provide an example of where you've done this before that would be super.

What I'm after is to get the browser to popup its normal... "What would you like to do with this file?... Download / Run?", dialogue.

A call to a web service can not send a file directly to the client. To send a response to the client, you need to send a request from the client.

Make a proxy page that gets the data from the database and writes it to the response stream. Make the browser request the page, and it will get the file in return.

Does ViewState property of the DataGrid control need to be set to true for its paging feature to work properly or it can work anyway.Please tell me if any feature of DataGrid control needs ViewState property of true.

Dear all,
I new in using asp.net 2.
I create a web site with authorization access to a specific folder “login.aspx” page. I do this by new technology “Asp.net Configuration tools”. I create users and enable roles.
When I run the application Visual studio there is no problem at all. When I want to enter the restricted area login.asp page appear. I enter a user name and password. So I can enter.

But, the problem is that when I want to access to the restricted area by using internet explorer I had the following message. And the login.asp page did not appear.
“Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'”

How Can I solve this problem.
