Hi,

How do i specify a decimal number to take only two numbers after the "."?

for example:
if i have this number in a lable 23.222342114, how do i write my cobe to be displayed only like this 23.22 ??

where F is a single alphabetic character called the format specifier, and n can be one or more digits called the precision specifier.

Format specifier for decimal D or d

so you have to use

object.ToString("D2");

I tried what you said but it's not accepting the D2..i'm using a vb.net code so are you sure it's right?

i will just show one example ok

decimal i=123.23444;
string j=Convert.ToString(Math(i,2));

if print j u will be getting 123.23

i think what you wrote is a c# code not a vb.net

when i wrote your code it displayed an error under the word "Math" !

you can simply use this to get the desired output.
string str = Convert.ToString(Math.Round(i,2));
here i is your decimal number.

Iam really sorry for the mistake. actually i missed one small piece of code.

Decimal i=Convert.ToDecimal(textBox1.Text);
textBox2.Text=Convert.ToString(Math.Round(i,2));

u should give Math.Round(i,2)

where i is the decimal no and 2 is the no of decimal places to be rounded to.

this will surely work. I am sorry for the previous error ok.

Hi all,

I want to store contents to database from Textarea, Sometimes the user put's the HTML tags in the textarea, this makes a little confusion in the CSS design while retriving the data. Any one plz kindly send me the regular expression to remove all the HTML tags before storing the data's in the database? I am doing this work in ASP.NET.

Please guide me.......

Thanks Guffa for your suggestion, ("<[^>]+?>") this expression works fine, but still i need your suggestion how to to filter the tags leaving bold,itallic,underline tags??? i tried in your expression as ("<[^>]+?>") perfectly, it works for bold, when i tried for ("<[^>]+?>"),("<[^>]+?>"), they does not works for certain tag but it leaves the or tag as i need.

(Plz avoid the spaces between the tags), to avoid confusion i put like that

From your attempts it looks like you are just guessing, wihtout knowing what the expression does.

This is what the expression contains:

< matches the starting angle of a tag.
[^>] is a set that matches any character that is not an ending angle.
+ means that the previous expression should be matched one or more times.
? means that the match should be non-gready, e.g. match as little as possible.
> matches the ending angle of a tag.

When you put [^>] in the set, it doesn't exclude the bold tag, it excludes the characters "b", "<" and ">". If you for an example would have a <table> tag, it would not be matched as it contains a "b".

To match certain tags, you would have to catch the specific tags you want to keep, and see to that they weren't replaced. Perhaps something like:

.Replace("()|(?:<[^>]+?>)", "$1");

If that doesn't work, you could use a delegate in the replace, and in the delegate method examine the text that is replaced to determine if it should be removed or not.
