hi!!

I am trying to port code from VC 6 to VC8. But while compiling i am getting erros like this:

error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'void (__thiscall CKPActivatorDlg::* )(WPARAM,LPARAM)' to 'LRESULT (__thiscall CWnd::* )(WPARAM,LPARAM)'<br />
None of the functions with this name in scope match the target type<br />
......

As error indicated..I changed the return type of function from void to LRESULT. Also I am returning 1. Although its working 4 me,I am not sure whether this is the correct sol'n to the problem or not!

plz help!

Try these changes in the current project.

1)Return HRESULT instead of void
2)Is CKPActivatorDlg derived from CObject derived class ??If not do so.

You get C2440 cannot convert void to LRESULT and its a error how do you run your program

That is what i done!!
I changed the return type to LRESULT; and returning value'1'

So now my project is getting compiled successfully. But I am not sure whether thid is right solution or not!

are you compiling that in which compiler? VC6 or VC7

Hi,

I am using MSXML4.0 with VisualC++ 6.0.

when I try to load and search nodes using selectSingleNode()from an xml having the default namespace like

<hari xmlns="....">

this function is returning NULL always

but if I put a prefix like this

<hari xmlns:pr="...">

the function "selectSingleNode() is retuning correctly.
what is it so ?

since I have an application which loads external xmls which may or maynot contains the namepace prefix how can I solve the probelm with selectSingleNode()...

MSXML/XPath doesn't work with default namespaces: Q313372[^]

Hi,
I want to protect one of my partition drive from formatting and deleting in any way.I do not know how to protect this.Can any body help me please.

I want to take backup of my OS in a partition drive other than OS drive and Active partition drive.So I want to protect that drive from unauthorised acces like formatting,deleting etc. Because i want that drive only for backup purpose.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
You need to create DWORD value "NoDrives" and set value data to
drive a: 1
drive c 4
drive d 8
...

It is OK.
The drives are removed from explorer,but still we can do anything through
Computer Management->Disk management.I need to protect my drive from formatting and deleting.

Hi Friends!
I m working on Ms Access .mdb file Format.
Till now i know some information about .mdb file format like .mdb format stores data in different pages of fixed size.
In .mdb file format one of the main page is Databases Defination Page which stroe the information about the password and Encryption used in it.If any body know which type of encryption algorithm used in .mdb file format to store the password and other information and how much bytes used to store this information.
the other importent page is Table Page and Leaf Index Page.Is anybody tell me or give me some help what information these pages stroes.
If anybody have any idea which type of information stores in these pages and how this information stores .pls help me.

Hi all,
I have one class CMyRichEditCtrl:public CRichEditCtrl

i have done some code by which i can get the word when mouse moves on it.
e.g.
asdf as*dff sdfs sdsd
asdasd asdasd asdasd asdasd

if mouse cursor is on the '*' word i am getting asdff. by using CharFromPos.
after getting this word i want to show it's ascii value.
so how can i show this thing.

Means i am doing all these things in mousemove handler.
so in that time if the mouse moves then what will happen?

is it possible?

Im helping out someone with this problem and im stuck, it been sometime since i used c++.

He reads in a file (ios::binary) and

char version [30]; //
...
file.get(version, 30);

Now the in version[0] is a char value, i want the decimal value, for example, 0x18 is "cancle" (looks like a up arrow in text). I want the decimal value 24 from 0x18, or take the char "cancle" and get 24.
the reason i need the decimal value is because it represents the lenght of the data string after version[0]. 30 is the max the string can be so thats why i need the decimal value of version[0]. Its just to tell the user what version the file being read is. Can anyone help me on this?
