It appears to be a whole school class. I got this email from "aaaa aaaa":
"I'm sorry but i'm not try to trick you....this is my lecturer suggestion.....i'm a new student in computer science and i also don't know what kind of question or code in this problem.....This problem,my lecturer give me in my firstclass of web programming and she want we all to post this problem in the forum and see what they all(people in forum) respond with this problem.....
Can you help me to respond with this problem????....At least you give me only a method for solve this problem....
I give you my problem statement to you.....plzzzz...."
To which I replied:
"Hello.
I think that you should tell your teacher that the experiment failed, as you didn't have enough knowledge about how the forums work to make them work for you, and you didn't take the time to famililarize yourself with them.
A group of people just blurting out the same question in random forums was doomed do fail, especially as several of you posted in the same forum, and also because it was so evident that it was an assignment, but the complete assignment wasn't revealed in the posts.
Your teacher should have just given you the non-working code and a verbal description of the problem, so that you would have to write the question yourself, instead of just copy and paste something that didn't even sound like a question in a forum.
Also you should have been given the instruction to find out a little about how the forum works and how to post a question, before rushing in and making every beginners mistake there is.
Regards
Göran Andersson"

If you post a school assigment in the forum and try to make it look like a genuine question, wouldn't it be smart to change the text so that it isn't obvious that it is an assignment?

Use css instead of those applets. It's more accessible and will be lighter and easier to maintain.
Example:
a:hover{color:red;padding:4px;border:1px solid #CCC;background-color:#000;}

To hide the div:
document.getElementById('hideshow').style.display = 'none';
To show the div:
document.getElementById('hideshow').style.display = 'block';

Why won't you tell what the real assignment is?
The assignment is not to solve the problem, but to explain methods to solve it.
It's not very nice to try to trick people into doing your assignments.

I just found out that this is a school asignment. It's not nice to try to trick people into doing your assignments for you. Unless you come clean about this I don't think that you will get any help at all.

Hello, i tried closing a window using the code snippet
It seems not to work, does anybody know why or an alternative way.

You can't close the main window using Javascript. You can only close windows that has been opened from another window.

What you have posted won't work because you have commented it out. The following will work to close a window. If the window is the parent window (the only window open) you get a message box asking "Do you want to close this window?".
<a href="javascript:window.close();">Close Me</a> This works with Internet Explorer but probably won't work with other browsers. You can also use a button or image. Using the elements 'OnClick' event handler you can call a script function to close the window also. This is usually done for popup windows.

i am sending mail using asp.net 1.1 through class mailmessage
it is going in bulk and not in inbox what should i do

Does Sytem.Web.Mail use smpt authentication? I'm not sure that it does and I think that may be why microsoft has dumped it in favor of the System.Net.Mail class. This is how I use the mailclient in System.Net.Mail to avoid the bulk folder:
Dim mailClient As SmtpClient = New SmtpClient
mailClient.Host = sMailServerName
mailClient.UseDefaultCredentials = True
mailClient.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network
If you can use the System.Net.Mail namespace that'd be your best bet. Otherwise if you have to use the 1.1 namespace, you might check out DotNetOpenMail[^] which allows SMPT authentication.

... at http://forums.microsoft.com[^]
The situation is this:
At work:
Win XP SP2 + all patches, Firefox 1.5.0.4, IE 6 SP1 + all patches
I can post successfully to the forums.
At home:
Win XP SP2 + all patches, Firefox 1.5.0.4, IE 6 SP1 + all patches
I can compose messages but after posting, nothing happens.
Pop-ups are enabled. Only thing I can think of is anti-virus interference.

Why don't you ask Microsoft why their support for any other browser than IE is non-existent?
Just use IE for their site. You can get the FireFoxView (View in IE) plugin for Firefox to make it easy to switch in between the two browsers.

You've misunderstood me. The forums do support Firefox. My problem is that I cannot access them in either IE or Firefox from my home PC but I can from my work PC, which is puzzling.
(BTW, MS do appear to be explicitly supporting Firefox these days - at least in some of their services.)

I see. Microsoft is becoming a bit more "standards compliant" as you noted but even the msdn library doesn't come up "right" in firefox. Sometimes I get a little frustrated..
I would suggest looking at your firewall, virus scanner, router config, and maybe call your ISP cause something is either blocking it or there is something up with your connection.
Good luck!

What's odd is that I experience no problems with any other similar forums.

True. Although msdn2 is better behaved. Problem is that many complain that it's slower than the main site.
At least Firefox is reasonably well supported by most sites/services these days - unlike, e.g., Opera.

i'm using a popup in this way:
javascript:void(window.open("http://www.codeproject.com"));
how can i force this popup to open always without blocking it by the browser???

You can't. If that was possible, all popup blockers would be useless.
