Hi. I have a GridView bound to a DataTable. The columns of the GridView are TemplateColumns with a TextBox in it.
The textbox columns appear with the values of the DataTable.

What I am trying to do is setting the TextBox to ReadOnly if certain conditions are met. I tried to do this within a handle to OnRowCreated (I get the created row in the eventargs e.Row). The problem is that I don't know how to get the TextBox object of a specific column in that row and set it's properties to ReadOnly.

Any help?

To get reference to the TextBox, you simply use the FindControl method in the event handler of the RowCreated event:

TextBox textBox = e.Row.FindControl('TextBoxId') as TextBox;

You now can set the ReadOnly property of the TextBox. However, you'd better use the RowDataBound event to set the ReadOnly property as the RowCreated event always happens, and you might not need that on postback. In addition, you can also use the databinding expression to set the ReadOnly property of the TextBox in the control declaration:

... ReadOnly='<%# ... %>' ...

I have a simple web page that written in C# and Asp.Net.
In that page i have asimple insert query that work by
Microsoft Accees;) .
When I run it in my camputer az a project I don't reciev this message Laugh | :laugh:

but when i placed on my host or on my iis I reciev this massage Confused | :confused:

write in square braces means [ ] which value you have to inserted in data bases . I think tis problem is due to likages of connection

I write 4 u what I wrote in my program:

Hi all,

We are into Student information system development.Actually we want to send a student confirmation letter taht he's confirmed registration with us and teh course is gonna start so and sooo date.We have the server and this is connected to fileserver and then to exchange server.

When i compile the whole project there's no errors at all but donno where the problem is..Can anyone plz guide me?

And can anyone tell me how to debug line by line the souce code in .NEt applications?

Pressing F9 on a particular line of a method/event will set a break point. Once the breakpoint is reached you can then use F10 - Step Over and F11 - Step Into which ever you need.

I have an XMLcontrol on my ASP.Net page but i want its output to NOT parse tags into "& lt", etc
It has been said that I should use Server.HtmlEncode() on the XMLcontrols output but exaclty how do i do this ?

You could use the below code.

System.IO.FileInfo oFile = new System.IO.FileInfo("c:\\Log.txt");<br />
long lSize = oFile.Length/1024;	<br />

It returns the file size as bytes. You can just divide 1024 to get the value in KB.

I m new to ASP.net and I am doing a project. In which when user selects Country(DropDownList) then only State(DropDownList)field should be enabled & only those states should be filled which belongs to selected Country.
I have created a table named State_City which contains two columns State and City. Record should come from table only.

plz help Confused | :confused:

Here are the steps that you might need to do:
+ Set the AutoPostBack of the Country dropdownlist to true.
+ Create an event handler for the SelectedIndexChanged of the Country dropdownlist.
+ In the handler, get the selected value of the Country list.
+ Execute an SQL command to query states based on the specified country.
+ Bind the result to the State dropdownlist.

If you don't know to implement the steps, you can see ASP.NET quick start[^].

However, this way posts the entire page back the server, while you may want to update the dropdownlist only, so you can use AJAX here. The sample code is available out there, just have a good search.

Btw, the subject is asking about the Date, but don't see you mentioned it in your post.

What are most of the steps I should follow before releasing an ASP.NET project on the web (security and performance wise)? I've heard that debugging should be set to false, but I'm unsure of other steps..

I want to ask if it is better to use typed datasets, table adapter and the objectdatasource for asp.net 2.0 applications or making all connections via the sqldatasource?

I started with strong typed datasets, tableadapter and objectdatasource and there are some problems like getting data from more then one table and updating this - so now I ask me this question.
