Nothing different i tried to move between other open windows during the wait -say 10secs in vb code .The application doesnt get refreshed or repainted ...it is displayed white window..

I m having a VB application which is using a .Net(C#) dll.In that dll, i have written code to make the application wait for a particular interval(alteast 2min).During that wait period if i try to move focus between other open windows and return focus back to vb application,it opens as blank white window.After that interval it gets repainted.How to make application open normally during the wait period???
code snippet i used for wait is as below:
private void wait(interval)
{
DateTime dteEndDate;
dteEndDate = DateTime.Now.AddMilliseconds(interval);
while ((DateTime.Now < dteEndDate))
{
System.Windows.Forms.Application.DoEvents();
}
}
I even tried using Thread.Sleep(interval) and got the same blank application window.

As long as you don't return from the dll, the VB application can't handle the events that tell it to redraw itself. It's just waiting for the call to return.

Hi all,
I had installed Framework 1.1 (on my HDD) and had created the SETUP files for my project.
Now I had installed Framework 2.0 on my client machine.
When I try to run SETUP from my Client machine, the SETUP
program prompts to install Framework 1.1.
My question is; Do I need to recreate/run the SETUP wizard again on my machine,
so that the new framework 2.0 would be registered on the SETIP program?
or I simply install the framework 1.1 on my client machine?

That's like asking if a person is living. You need to give a lot more details of what you're looking for. Are you looking to track a person's browsing, check to see if they're accessing your site, etc...etc... By saying "online" it can mean a lot of different things in different contexts.
Before you elaborate on this, keep in mind that most people will not help you perform illegal actions. If that's your intention, I'd just let this thread die away. If however, you have a valid reason, then please...ask away.

I'm creating a program in visual basic that uses a web browser and I don't want the "Page cannot be displayed" error to show up, so I want to check to see if a user is online (connected to the internet), so that I can re-route them to an offline version if necessary. I am not doing anyting illegal, this is actually a program for a church...

How can i copy a file into another computer send de command with the credentials of another user. I used windows authenticated and now i want to do:
FileCopy("sourcepath", "destpath")
but do this by another user who not the windows user on the machine.

You asked asimilar question on 31 May - and other people too. Must be a homework assignment or something?
What you are attempting to do is essentially break the security model by impersonating another user.
Get the owner of the server to share a disk resource to allow you to transfer the file or create a user on that server specifically for your use.
Either way, you need sufficient rights to copy the file.

Did you try using a picture box?

Put a PictureBox on the form and in the code type the following when you want to display the gif.
PictureBox.Image = New Bitmap("GIF PATH")
Where PictureBox is the name of the picturebox and "GIF PATH" is the path of a gif file.
If you have a stream loaded with the gif picture in use the following:
PictureBox.Image = New Bitmap(GIF STREAM)
Where PictureBox is the name of the picturebox and GIF STREAM is the the stream. This can be useful if the gif is an embedded resoource in your app.
In such a case (The gif is an embedded resource) use:
PictureBox.Image = New Bitmap(GetType(FormName).Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream(("GIF RESOURCE NAME")
Where PictureBox is the name of the picturebox, FormName is the name of the form and "GIF RESOURCE NAME" is the complete name of the gif including any folders and the root namespace of your project and the .gif file extension. eg: "MyProject.MyGif.gif"
All this works for animated gifs as well.

If you are using Visual Studio 2005 there is a tool strip container control in the toolbox which allows users to dock toolbars on the top/bottom/left side/right side of the container. I'm not sure how to do it in any other version of Visual Studio though.

It is not possible to block CTRL+ALT+DEL in all OS versions without recourse to writing your own GINA.dll - and entirely to advanced topic for this space, but suffice to say VB won't do it.
