Imagine if this were possible. It would render passwords useless. Not to mention the whole security system (since anyone could log in as admin and change whatever ACLs/settings that they didn't like)

Hi, I'm writing a visual C++ application that allows a computer, running a full screen 'old' PC game, to be controlled by a remote computer.
I want to be able to blank the screen of the game machine but still control the game i.e. go into the settings screens, change player name and various other settings. Then un-blank the screen once back into the real game.
My problem is that to blank the screen I'm creating a full screen always on top window filled in black. But I still need to be able to send inputs, mouse clicks and keyboard, into the game screens. So how can I create the blanking window so that mouse clicks etc pass through it, to the game window underneath?

Sir,
I want to work on a project.The project is based on following utility.It will have the password option.Like in window explorer when the user right clicks at the file or folder the menu get appeared with open , rename, delete etc facilities . Now i want to add the password option.
The problem is should i use vc++ 6.0 or vc++.net 1.1 or C or anything else. Which language should be appropriate for that?

this is not a real problem. anyway, i advise you not to use VC6 but prefer VC7.1 instead, simply because of compiler standard compliance...
moreover, MFC 7.1 should be much more powerful for what you're looking for.

Hello,
I'm having to classes with inverse assotiations, which means one has to include the other. But neither my MSVC nor my GNU compiler doesn't handle that. I don't understand why?
MSVC Compiler error: Syntax error: identifier 'B'
Syntax error: identifier 'A'
GNU Compiler error: variable or field 'foo' declared void
expected ';' before '(' token
Here is a code example:

You have to include the files in the cpp files and use a forward declaration of classes:
class A;
class B
{
};
Including a header means that the code from the header will be 'pasted' instead of the include directive. Imagine then what happens in your case

Hello,
I am trying to make a small paint application and want to allow user to draw only in three colors Black, White and Red.
I create a 4BPP DIB with a Pallete with White, Black and Red as top three entries and rest all initialized to black.
I copy the same Pallete on the Device Context.
When I Draw a Line with solid red pen and ROP set to R2_MASKPEN but the line is drawn in white color although it should appear as red.
Can anyone help me out here.

I've just found this in some code I've been given to maintain:
inline char * _fstrchr(const char *szStr, char ch)
{
return strchr(szStr, ch);
}
It's in a .h file, and it's used all over the place. Is there any benefit with this function over using strchr directly? I thought inlined functions basic replaced the _fstrchr token with the content of the function - as the function is not doing anything else, is there any point?

He used this token, _fstrchr, in the entire source. There's a benefit from this way:
Some time later when there is a need to alter the implementation, he only needs to modify one line, instead of using the text search function to find out all the occurrences of strchr.
Similar concept as:

In windows XP we get messagefrom firewall to allow the application to run or Block when we run any application other then microsoft application by default.
I want to do something programaticaly that firewal will not ask the message before running my application (EXE) . i think we need to add in allow list programaticly;
How ca I do ti .

Add your application.exe path at the following location in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\
StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List
i have not tried the code but hope so it work.  As the windows firewall adds the authorised application list here.
