Something really weird is happeneing here, and I can't explain why.
Let me give you a brief explanation what happens. When the pages loads for the first time it loads all the hub groups into a dropdown control, that's all. Each hub group can have 0, 1, or many hubs. I don't know how many hubs there are per hub group. When the user selects a hub group, it sets a panel to true, and loads all the related hubs, with textboxes. The textboxes are generated automatically. I give the ID of each textbox "txt" plus the ID of the hub (from the database).
This is my code in the .aspx file (just some of it):

Everything displays well, 100% in fact. But this is where I am having my problem. When I click on the buttion, then table with the results generated disappears. Not sure why this happens. This is why I think it can not display the controls, because it is not there. Is there a reason for this??
I hope someone can help. If I have left out something, please let me know. If I can get this to work, then I can think about trying to display the textbox values.

Hi, I'm new to the code project. I'm 16 and I am working on my major work for year 11. I want to make an instant messenger similar to msn, but simpler. I'm fairly new to C# and all programming, but know the basics.
I have created a form with 2 text box (tbName, tbSpeech) a list box and a send button. You type your name in to tbName and then type your message in to tbSpeech. The program then adds " Says: " to your name, then adds your name (including the extra bit) and your message to an array, the array is then displayed in the list box.
I was wondering if you could help me with the whole getting the array to display on both computers bit. I have been looking around on this site and the only way I have seen it done, is with a console program set up as a server (this was for a messenger service based on a local network).
In the final project I plan to have the main form containing a list of people logged on (being anyone who is running the program) and you can click on their names and it opens the form that I decribed earlier (very similar to msn). I need help working with the internet though. What is the best way I should go about it?

have a look at this article[^]. It doesn't have really good votes because the demo and code comments are in spanish but the article is in english and should give you the basic idea.
You definitely need a server. Whether this is a console program, a service or just another mode of the client GUI doesn't matter.

I don't know where are you going. Use comma seperated string (eg. user, message). You will then send this comma seperated string to the other computer. There create a string array based on the comma seperated string. Does this help?

hi ppl,
I am using a gridview,where i have 5 columns with a drop down list in 1 column.
Salary No_months TotalSal are the 3 columns among 5.
When i select a value from dropdown list in no_months column,i.e,On selcted index changed,i should get the calculated TotalSalary which is a product of (Salary * No_months) displayed in the next column i.e,in TotalSal column.
I could do this using functions to calculate totalSal(Salary*No_months)to get my result dispalyed in TotalSal column.To do this i hav used Edit item template,such that i can change values in Salary & No_months columns while using Edit & update.Update is used to update the changed value & calculated product(result).
But instead of straightly editing no_months value as used so far,I want to use Dropdownlist in place of nO_months column to select a value

In "Office Development 2005" ,the above said fnction is working with "excel workbook" project, but when tried out in "Excel Template" Project we are getting one error message as "Attempted to read or write protected memmory". Please give help in this regard as soon as possible.

Short answer: It doesn't work. Only single cells or whole rows.
You are better of using another grid component (like SourceGrid[^])

Hi all, i want to create a control that does just like a panel into Visual Studio.
If i want to set a background image i go on open file dialog at the voice background image and load the image.
I know how create this property for my cotnrol but when i laod the image it doesn't is set in my resource project directory as Visual Studio does.
How can i do?

Is your problem runtime or design time related? In design time Visual Studio should handle it automatically if its a public property. In runtime you will have to store the bitmap yourself. You could either save the bitmap as a file (image.Save()) or serialize it like Visual Studio does it. For this have a look at the System.Runtime.Serialization namespace.

if i use the panel object and i load a bitmap it is placed in resource project embedded file.

Should be working automatically. Here is a small sample:

Setting the Image property with the designer will automatically put the image into the resource of the form.

Hi!
I'm using C# as script to launch an IE windows using the Interop SHDocVw.dll's ShellWindowsClass.Navigate(...) function. Now I want the
1. newly launched window to be opened maximized.
and
2. If this window is minimized then restore it.
Is there any class in Interop SHDocVw.dll, through which I can achieve this?
Presently the opening behaviour is not certain,sometimes it opens as expected,but other times new IE window gets created but remains minmized.
Also in a normal C# program this is achievable using 'User32.dll''s ShowWindow(..,..) function, but when I try to use this in my script I get syntex error at [DllImport.....].
can someone help me.

AFAIK, IE remembers the window state it was when it was shutdown. If you know the window handle, you can still maximize it by calling ShowWindow[^] with the P/Invoke signature mentioned in the link.

I can get the IE window handle using hwnd property of InternetExplorerClass.But my problem is that I am getting the syntex error on my C# Script due to this statement:
[DllImport("user32.dll")]
static extern bool ShowWindow(IntPtr hWnd, int nCmdShow);
I'v already imported the namespace System.Runtime.InteropServices;

What exactly is the compiler error you're getting? And does C# script mean something other than normal .cs files compiled using the csc compiler?

Yes, This is a C# script executed by some Scripting Engine other than the csc compiler.
This is the error:

Hmm, looks like your scripting engine doesn't like attributes. How about moving the DllImport code to a separate dll and then referencing the DLL from within your script?

Yes,That is what we are thinking now.
build the c# assembly that uses User#2.dll's Showwindow() function.
then use this assembly in our script through reflection.
