hi. i have a mdi form with a list box. menu and toolbar on it.i want to open a child form to cover go below the toolbar and cover the list box below.
However when i load it, it ends up behind the listbox and if i send the listbox back, when i close the child form the listbox is nowhere to be found
what should i do??

This is happening because the child forms are rendered inside another control, called MdiClient, IIRC. Your missing ListView is sitting behind that MdiClient control, which is docked inside the entire client area of the MdiParent form.
Basically, what you isn't really possible without tracking if there are any child windows open. What you're going to have to do is send the ListView control to the back when there are child windows open. Then, when the number of child windows falls to 0, bring the ListView to the front.

I have written a program that will print data to a preprinted form. This program is installed on three different computers and this form will be printed from three different types of printers. A laser jet, a inkjet, and a 3-in-One. The problem I am experiencing is each printer starts printing in a different spot on the page. I need each printer to start printing in the exact same location. Any suggestions?

You need to take account of the PageSettings.printableArea as some printers cannot print to the edge of the page...

I think this is what you want. It does not actually reduce the number of decimal places the variable is holding but allows for a reasonable number to be displayed. Create a windows form. add a textbox. use this as the load code.

Ok...I know there must be an easier way to do this....Has anyone created a windows form app using vb.net using an MDI and child forms? I am trying to open and close child forms. When I try to open or unhide (i have tried both ways) a new child form I get no results. Nothing happens, just my mdi form appears empty with no child forms. Can anyone lend their assistance?

One of the articles I read said to Hide instead of close so I implemented it. It does 'hide' but I can't get the child form to show up when I call it from another child form.

I noticed that you do not show the form in the if part of your if/else. You only bring to front and focus and the form is not shown....weird

I agree that the me.hide seems strange but I think it is even more important that they are not saying frmChaindata.show() in the if part of the if/else statement!

The "me" in this case is the first child form (child1). Because I am attempting to call one child from another. I am hiding the child1 form and trying to show the second child form. I tried adding the show, but no luck. In the else part of the if statement I am calling the .show method and it didn't work there either. Still working on it.....

Hello,
I have become interested in trying to create a form/control which emulates the behavior of the MS Word Equation Editor(EE). When you are using the MS Word EE it feels like you are working with textboxes inside of textboxes. I am refering especially to the ratio feature. What really gets me is that these textboxes behave like text. You can highlight, copy, cut, paste, etc. Can anyone provide some insight into how this is accomplished? I have written some fairly unimpressive code which lines up textboxes beside and above eachother and autosizes the textboxes to fit their contents but that as far as I got. I would be glad to share my code if anyone is interested.

when i am working in vb.net project it will take lot of time.sometimes the application is not responding.
the error is due to 'Devenv'file.sometimes this happends also at the loading time.i reinstalled vb.net.no change.

DevEnv is the Visual Studio Integrated Developement Environment. Apparently, it's a little busy doing something at times. This can be caused by a half-million different things. The most common of which is an under-powered machine, lacking in either processor speed and/or RAM.
There can also be outside causes, like trying to run SQL Server on the same machine when it only has 512MB of RAM.
Project size also matters. Did you know that Intellisense uses the compiler to partially recompile your application every time you make a change to the code to keep itself updated?
You've got a bunch of trouble shooting to do. There is no one cause for this and no one solution. Start with the basics. Does your machine have the RAM and processor to run a heavy weight IDE and everything on the machine?
