hai every one
i m ajay.
i m facing a problem related to session in asp.net.i have two web forms.from webform1 i am opening the webform2(a modal dialog box).from ther i m coming with some informations saved in sessions.and i have to close that modal on click of link buttons which itself populate from the database.as well as refresh the parent page(webform1).although i have done all these steps successfully.but when i open the modal dialog box and click on the link button i m getting the result on parent page(refreshed copy).in this way as many time i want i can get the value from the modal dialog box.
problem comes when i do somthing like clicking on a button or something like this and again i m trying to open the modal box,this time it again opens properly but when i click on the link buttons i can not view the parent page.and a error box(the page cannot be refreshed without resending the information again.click on the retry button to send the information again or cancel).
i just cant understand why it is not opening the refreshed copy of parent page if i have done something else on the parent page other than opening the modal box.
can anyone help me

Hi ,
i have a class library project ProjectA which has reference to webservices webserviceA and webserviceB.
A and B contains a class called ResponseMessage.
when i compile my project i get the following error message:
'ResponseMessage' is an ambiguous reference between ProjectA .webserviceA .ResponseMessage'
and
ProjectA.webserviceB.ResponseMessage'
In my ProjectA i have using ProjectA.webserviceA; and ProjectA.webserviceB
How do i go on about solving this issue?

You must explicitly tell the compiler which class you are using. If you are using a class from namespace A then you will have to declare a object liek this:
Some.Namespace.A.YourClass var = new ....
if from B then:
Some.Namespace.B.YourClass var = new ....
otherwise the compiler dosen't know which class to use...

only this would work,
global::Namespace.A.ReponseMessage
not sure if this is the best way though.
alternatively, renaming the class.
appreciate your input.

Hi All,
I work for this new company and I do asp.net builds for them. Well we
noticed that a few months ago that the build for this one app shrank
from 8mb to 5kb. Everything is still in the app as before but for some
unknown reason the build size dropped dramaticly. Anyone have any ideas
what might cause that to occur? What project properties should I look
at to see if something was turned off?

Debug vs Release builds usually cause a decrease, but not THAT much!!
Check your VSS history, or look for statically linked libs that are now dynamically linked (unlikely, esp for a web app, but hey!)

I'm getting ready to lead a group of developers into an ASP.NET project. We've all been doing VC6 for the last several years. Only a few of us have any ASP experience.
Are there any good online courses for ASP.NET?
We're jumping from VC6 to C#/ASP.Net 2.0/Atlas. It should be quite a ride.

sir,
i want to develop a program based on user login and logout. i want to know the proper timing about the user login and user logout.
I want that a file to be created whenever the user logins, and whenever the user logs out i want to delete that file after 20 minutes i.e. the file about the session of the user expires after 20 minutes.
Can you plz. send me the project about the above said problem.

u can use cookies for that and set the expiring time of the cookies to 20 minutes. Then the user will be able to log for 20 minutes.

I want to pass a(numerical) value from a dropdownlist to an SQL select using the DropDownList SelectedIndexChanged event.
Here's my code so far.
protected void MyDropDownList_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DropDownList MyDropDownList = (DropDownList)("MyDropDownList");
MyLabel.Text = MyDefinitionDropDownList.SelectedItem.Value.ToString();
string strSQL;
strSQL = "SELECT COUNT(*) as count from MyTable where ID= ???";
}
My problem is that I don't know what should replace the '???'. I've tried
strSQL = "SELECT COUNT(*) as count from MyTable where ID= MyLabel.Text";
but this is interpreted as "SELECT COUNT(*) as count from MyTable where ID= MyLabel.Text"
even though my debugger tells me MyLabel.Text is grabbing an OK value.
If I do strSQL = "SELECT COUNT(*) as count from MyTable where ID= 6" for example it works fine.
I think my problem is with casting?

Hi,
You do like this:
strSQL = "SELECT COUNT(*) as count from MyTable where ID=" + MyLabel.Text;

Hello:
I am building webpart that contains datagrid, this datagrid has paging but the PageIndexChanged event is not firing the first time i press the next page but after that it runs normally, only the first time it doesn't fire, any suggestions??? i tried many many things but nothing worked. The code is as follows:
protected void dgSites_PageIndexChanged(object source, DataGridPageChangedEventArgs e)
{
dgSites.CurrentPageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;
dgSites.DataSource = alDataSource;
dgSites.DataBind();
}
Also i have created the datagrid in the CreateChildControls and attached the event:
dgSites.PageIndexChanged += new DataGridPageChangedEventHandler(dgSites_PageIndexChanged);
Any Help??

Be confirm that you are binding your datagrid only first time the page loads.
You have to write(if u're using c#)
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
// Bind the datagrid
}

No, you have to bind the datagrid in the PageIndexChanged otherwise the paging will not work!!!! any other possibility??

u can make that imagebutton runat="server". then on click event , u can redirect the user to new page or window.
