Having worked both ends of this candle...
.NET approach
Pro: Services written in .NET are much easier to implement, and, I would suspect, much more stable (VS 2003 or VS 2005, whichever is available).
Con: Services can only run as services; debugging is more difficult.
VB 6 approach
Pro: Easier to debug since application can be executed as a regular VB image.
Con: Stability is questionable; implementation is more difficult; support for VB 6 is quickly waining.

Check this out[^]
I've used the "VB-friendly NT Service API Functions" to create a VB6 NT Service before.
They are in the NTVBSvc type library.
If you cannot find it, let me know. I have a copy from 4 or 5 years ago.

Similar to what is posted above, but without the unnecessary parts:
For Each control In this.Controls
if TypeOf control is TextBox
control.Text.Clear()
end if
Next
Current blacklist

you can use like below:
dim ob as object
for each object in form1.controls
if object.type = textbox
object.clear
endif
next
not sure correct syntax, but the method will work

hi,
what you can do with your problem is
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click,button2.click,button3.click,button4.click
as on single click of this button you can control other buttons also. i think this can solve your problem
|
|
|
|
|
create all the text box as array
and
use this following code
private sub txtclear()
dim i as integer
for i = 0 to 19
text(i).text=""
next i
end sub

Hi,
Can a version of Visual Studio.Net be used with a .Net Framework which is newer?
e.g Can Visual Studio 2003 work on .Net Framework 2.0 ?
or Visual Studio 2005 on the newer version of .Net ?
|
|
|
|
|
No. It can't. You can't use VS 2005 to target .NET 1.x, and vice versa.

Yes, and No...
VS 2003 cannot target .NET 2.0 but any apps you create with VS 2003 and .NET 1.1 should run ok if run on a .NET 2.0 system (the .NET frameworks are backward compatible). You just won't get the advantage of any new features in the later framework.
VS 2005 targets .NET 2.0 as a minimum, so you can't generally target .NET 1.1 or earlier (yes I know - strictly speaking there are ways around this but unless you have a VERY good reason it just ain't worth the headaches).

yes, i have tried it and vs.net 2003 is working with framework 2.0

Hi Gupta,
So when u try vs.net 2003 with framework 2.0, can it still work smoothly and utilize the new features of version 2.0?
Is it just a matter of removing version 1.1 and installing version 2.0 in its place?
Because from almost all the replies, vs.net 2003 is unable to target .net framework 2.0

1) store the numbers 4, 10 & 8 in an array or list
2) get a random number in the range 0 - 2 (myRandom.Next(0,2) )
3) retrieve that index from the original array

Can anyone give me a sample of how to export data from database to XML?
Besides, how can I make use of the DTD?
Thanks a lot.

Just add FOR XML AUTO to the query.

That depends on what you want to use it for.

I tried ICSharpCode Zip Library and tried the function at http://weblogs.asp.net/dneimke/archive/2005/02/25/380273.aspx to package one or more files into a zip file.
But its giving errors declarative errors for EnsureDirectory, FileStream.
