You can insert meta-symbols directly into text after "\" symbol.

Your sample:

Another possibility that I like is putting a "@" in front of the string.
THen you can show the "'s using double ""'s

For example:

string quote = @"Andy said ""hi!""";

this also lets you write backslashes without needing the ekstra backslash.

For example:

string path1 = "C:\\data\\text.dat";
string path2 = @"C:\data\text.dat";

That code might prove quite inefficient, though. You risk that the compiler will box the char values, and the actual code produced will be:

char quote = '"';<br />
object[] tempArray = new object[] { (object)"This line have ", (object)quote, (object)" quote. ", (object)quote };<br />
string str = string.Concat(tempArray);

I’m in need of a good way to save load a generic List<> to a file, XML, txt or whatever. How should you do that in an easy way?

Hi,

I'm trying to import a tlb file, but always get the following error:

Yet, my colleague can import the same tlb correctly. I've tried it on another pc and it worked idd.
Crazy thing is, it didn't work some time ago, but in meantime I've re-installed my system, yet no difference.

What could be the problem? I'm still in training for our product, but this file is key in development soon...

Hi.
In a simple applicatin(Phone Book), I have 2 tables in my DB(SQLServer or Access).
A table for id,name,family and another for personID and tel.
now when I want to add a person, I must add record to both tables (name and phone),
but I don't know how can do it with C#??!! (with one command add to two tables???)
I'm beginner in DB !!

If you are using SQL Server then you can use a Stored Procedure[^] to populate both tables at once. You can also separate SQL commands with a semi-colon so that you can put two SQL commands into one SqlCommand object.

i am trying to play a wave file when phone is connected in an outgoing call.i have tried the following code:

Hi,

can anyone help? I have some question on how the webCam works and how to retrieve images from it. I try to get the image and display it on the Web.

Questions :

1. Where does webCam stores the images captured? Or Do I need to specify a Folder for the WebCam to deposit the images captured?

2. How to use C# code to retrive images? where to retrieve the images?

3. Are all images captured by webcam will be in order according to time?

I have the same dilema, but, if you don't mind using COM objects, there's a very good ActiveX that I use in VB and it works for me in C# also. It's a free object. It's call exVidCap.ocx. Look for it on the web. http://www.shrinkwrapvb.com/ezvidcap.htm[^]

Hello Experts,
I want to read .cer file generated by RootCA. I want to encrypt scramble it with some garbage data and make .cer file unsuable, then I want to remove the garbage data from .cer file so it could be useful again.

I wanna do it because if I give anybody a .cer file to install it on some machine, he should not be able to steal it. The only way this .cer file could be installed in Authority Store is by my program which gets the confirmation before removing the garbage data from a webservice and sends that webservice client's IP and username.

I tried opening the file in C and C++ both couldnt read the file. Can I do it in C#. If I can then how?

Hi,

I need to write an error reporting tool. Part of its logging mechanism is querying all installed software and hardware from the system. Can anyone point me to a way to query information about the software packages installed on a computer in C#?

Code project features a nice article explaining how to query the hardware (http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/hardware_properties_c_.asp)

But I would need to query installed software packages too. Any help is appreciated.

You could look into the registry under the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
Basically everything listed under control panel/Software is listed there (including name, manufacturer, version...).
You can access the registry via the Registry class in the Microsoft.Win32 namespace.

Hi I am opening a Powerpoint application on winform.
i am using a button onclick on that button a slide is inserted and i want to insert a oledbobject "word document" in that slide i am writing the code for that but its not taking the exact class name and giving the COMException(0x80004005) ..

I am trying to catch a reminder and incoming mail of the outlook...

I am able to catch them, but the problem is that I can't see the content

of the mail, or the content of the reminder...

Maybe someone knows how I can check it?

byte[] to String conversion problem

Hi,
I am getting a byte array from a string using Encoding.UTF8.getBytes(string) function. Now i convert it to a string using Encoding.UTF8.getString(byte[]). Now when i convert it back to byte array using above mentioned function,i don't get the same array that i used when converting to string. Please guide me in this regard.

If that is really so, it sounds like something that is very specific to what you are doing. I'm not even convinced that the unicode conversion is the actual problem.

Can you show an example that will produce this unusual behaviour?
