Hello!
I have a databse driven asp based web site. My aim is to hide a url address from the users (for downloding). However the file is under the directory when user go overs the link it shows up in the browsers' status bar.
Is there a way to hide the link information for the browsers and show only the file name after the local website name eg: www.abc.com\program.exe
The program.exe resides under another directory.

I have a web app that collects barcode data. Presently it uses a form in an asp page having a field for input from the scanner. The scanner is set up so that it simulates typing the Enter key after the data which causes the page to reload, inserting the data into our database.
I want to modify this so that a subroutine on the same page gets called, instead of having the page reload. I tried pointing the form's ACTION attribute to my sub, but it never gets called; instead the page reloads. I also tried adding an OnChange attribute to the input field, but it only fires when the focus leaves the field, i.e. the user clicks somewhere outside the control. This won't work for barcode scanning.
Is this possible?

One way to do this is to use the onsubmit event in the form. Call your function, then return false from the event to keep the form from posting:

Hi.
Im in the progress of selecting the right database for my new project.
I only have PHP/Mysql and ASP.net 2.0/MSsql experience.
So here comes some questions:
1. Can i use MySQL in my ASP.net 2.0 project as datasource for gridviews? just like mssql.
2. Can i use MS access instead of mssql/mysql? i've heard that it only takes a few dataconnections at a time, what is up with that?
I ask because i also want to choose my webprovider (web hotel) now. But most of them is expensive if i want mssql + asp.net 2.0
There is a lot of cheap solutions if i use asp.net 2.0 + access or myssql.

The database driver for Access limits the number of connections for each user to 64. For web development it means that each web application can only have 64 connections open at the same time. This is normaly not a problem, as a web site that can be served by an Access database usually only uses a few connections at a time. It makes Access more sensetive to badly written code, though.
If your web site will have much traffic (like thousands of visitors per day), you might want to go for a more powerful database than Access.

Hi,
Im currently using CSS to change the style of the side scroll bar (eg up/down page) for a website im creating.
However the site needs to be operable via a touchscreen. As such i really need to make it easier for users to scroll up / down the page.
Is there anyway to make the arrows / scrollbar larger? Or perhaps replace the arrows with my own images?
I really need to be able to make these buttons more accessible.

I need to replace / make bigger the Up/Down arrows on the scroll bar ------->
Not the mouse cursor.

Hello
I have two websites and in these sites I have inserted some codes (banners) of some companies. The problem is that some time they have popups. Please I would want know if with one script (HTML or Java) it is possible to block these popups.

How do I validate a textarea html control using a regular expression? I have had problems before. I want to use the .NET regular expression control.

You place a validator on the form. And then set the ControlToValidate property to your textarea.
And of course you have to enter your regular expression in to the Expresion property of the validator.

It validates fine till press enter to start a new paragraph.
The regular expression that I use is:
^[\u00E8-\u00EB\00FCa-zA-Z\d\-',&.@#/ ]$
Maybe it picks up the new line character? Not sure, how can I fix this?

You have to moddify your regex to work with newlines...

Hi,
I have an admin section and I would like the current time on the PC to be displayed on the screen. Not the time on the server, but the time on the PC, irrespective of where you are. Is this possible on through JavaScript?
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and C# 2.0. Not sure if this will make a difference, but I am from South Africa.

I got a web application that is using another DLL through DllImport , but whenever I try to deploy a new version , it seems that I’ve to reset the IIS, even some times I’ve to restart the machine, as that DLL is using Access file, when I need to try to delete that access file , I’ve to restart the machine,

Hi,
I would like to pass an integer to a javascript function. How do I do that for the function definition header and the called function?
And, are there functions in jscript which gives mouse coordinates Relative to the control? e.g the top left coordinates of a listbox is (0,0) instead of its position on the screen.
Currently, I use window.event.x and window.event.y to find the coordinates.
