Hi! All,
I made my pen-disk as a system boot disk.And now I wanna comtrol my pen-disk
under dos system,such send some private commands to my pen-disk.
Do I need to write a new driver for dos system?
If the dos system offer a couple of commands to support?

What is PEN-Disk?
Dos only support Hard Disk with a FAT16, FAT 32(Win95 OSR) and Floppy Disk with drive A and B. B is optimal for another floppy. In older computers, were 2 "floppy disk drive". One was 1.44MB and other was 1.2MB.

hi,
got a problem in winxp, that makes me unable to run "Add/Remove Windows Components " or bootvis. am getting the error messages telling that the dlls has missing procedures , f.e the WmiOpenTraceCursor in ADVAPI32.dll and faxOcmSetupProc in fxscom.dll, and for some other components the same error . can anyone help plz?

Try to run the commnd SFC /SCANNOW in the command prompt. You should prepare CD windows because it will require to replace any file that is corrupt too.

Hi,
I have one problem to ask. When I type http://google.com in outlook it appears as link, but when I type only google.com it does not appear as link. I want to know what determines this? I have a requirement to make a shortcut link for opening some file in my image editor. I want to make link like this clicking on which the file opens in my image editor. Link will look something like MyImageEditor://PathOfFile. Any clue? I guess it can be done by thinking in direction “how does a file say .doc file is associated with MS Word”.

Getting this error running an ASP.NET app:

Any advice or idea? I runned all iisstate and diag without any sucess

I have been a windows developer for a long time, however, I now need to look at Linux development...
Are there any resources (web or paper) you would recommend, for someone who has never even used a Linux system, to learn how the OS holds together, and how to start writing software to run on a Linux system...

How do i use CD dos command in XP ? for folders that have "spaces" inbetween their names?
like,
i wanna "CD" into a Directory called "All Users"..
i tried : CD "All User" (with Double quotes)
it says "Incorrect Parameters"...
How to go?

which console do you use ?
i'm pretty sure you're doing this within command.com
instead, do this :
run > cmd
then, you can do cd doc
and press the Tab key to get an autocompletion of the path...
tell me if it doesn't work.

command.com is the "OLD" DOS command interpreter (used in Windows up to Windows ME) and cmd.com is the NT command interpreter (used in Windows NT 4.0 up to Windows XP).

Hi,
I would like to transfer files through a SSH link with the Tectia client software.
My problem is to do it inside an application, and to be able to control the result of the file transfer operations.
Has anybody tried that kind of thing ?

Well I installed Windows 2003 32 bits into a computer that was 64 bits, then I realized that is actually a 64 bits computer. Now I need to install the 64 bits Windows 2003 without losing anything in that computer. What's the best way to do it? Would 64 bits OS make a difference?

It does, as long as the applications you are running are 64-bit apps.
If you just have a 64-bit OS, but everything else is compiled for 32 bit, you will not have much improvement.
If you were running Gentoo (which means: compiling most of your programs yourself), you would gain some performance. Since you are using Windows, which means most apps are distributed in binary form only, you would have to search and wait for 64-bit versions of all apps before you could make full use of your "power".
And if you really want to install a 64-bit OS (maybe, because its cool) I would suggest you reinstall the whole system: format the HDD and reinstall everything.

Win64 driver support is still spotty. Make sure you have drivers for all your hardware before doing the upgrade.

I've been running Win2003 AdvSrv R2 x64 for a couple months now.
It's been stable but it's not really going to be any faster/slower (i understand the AMD x64 chips run 32bit code natively i.e. the OS isn't emulating).
Moving 32bit to 64bit is mainly increasing addressable memory space.
The main way you'll see speed improvements is if you write code for machines with more memory (3,4 GB+) and you take advantage of that memory (e.g. cache more state).
I wouldn't expect much (if any) improvement in speed if you just take a current 32bit codebase and recompile for 64bit.
As for upgrading a 32bit OS to 64bit - don't try it.
The 64bit OS puts all 64bit modules in '/Program Files' and '/Win/System32' and all 32bit modules in '/Program Files (x86)' and '/Win/SysWOW64' (WOW stands for Windows On Windows).

Hello,
I have difficulties setting up a boot switch between windows 98 and windows xp pro. I have two hard disks, the windows 98 hdd has 1 drive and is chanel 0 master, the windows xp pro hdd has 2 drives and is channel 1 master. What do I do in order to make that boot switch between the two os's ?
Adding
C:\="Microsoft Windows" /win98 to boot.ini does not seem to work

Connect two hard drives in ne IDInterface cable and IdInterface cable sign in one master slot of motherboard.
restart PC and "sure" u get choice to start from Win98 or winXP
