Hi!
I made a program to collecting (and uploading to a mysql database) drive informations (volume name, serial, size,...) every 10 minutes. I wrote it with scripting.drives. It works fine.
I have rewrite it to a windows service.
My problem is: the service can't see my attached network drives.
It is very important for me to see every drive.
I have no idea what is the problem... ;(
Please somebody help me!

I think Your right, this is the problem, but how can I solve it?
Or: how can I write a windows [console] application without a window. (so it will run in the background, and I can see it only in the task manager)

Help? WIth what? This isn't enough to help you do anything!
Help with connecting to the database? With putting a query together? With executing the query? With the result set????
A lot more detail is needed if you want any kind of a useful answer.

VB - 6 Beginner
I have only been coding for 6 months and now "i'm addictded"
Prob:VB warning my procedure is too large. I have scanned numerous forums after forums..
ie.planetsourcecode.com ect....
I am designing a dictionary program and I coded the whole dictionary text and forgot about the 64kb rule and now I am stuck with a nice custum shaped form + picBtns and now not working.
I tried Huffman compression,public,function,modules,user,controls,OCX's and now confused.
Is there any easy fix to this?

Put the values in an array instead. If the array is sorted, you can even use binary search to locate an item, which is way faster than thousands of lines of code.

Thanks for the help Guffa, look's like Im going to learn about array's today. I read a little about this yesterday, wasn't sure how to imply this. Any extra help will greatly be appreciated, (speed up my self teaching process)! ......Do until Next Loop..:->

Even if you use arrays you'll still come up against all the same barriers you have now. The better way is to separate your data from the program code.
Keep the data in a simple database and retrieve the bits you need depending on the key words in your 'dictionary'.
This also allows the dictionary database to expand by a couple of orders of magnitude without hitting any limits and eliminates any recompiles of your program in the meantime.

you can using the Excel reference: Microsoft Excel 10.0(version number) Object Library.
I suggest you learning this from MS msdn web site.

HI All,
I am basically passing URL parameters for the user to edit or delete pictures e.g
delete_images.aspx?id=1123
that means if anyone knows the id they can delete other users details so my question is how to avoid from this to happen. I also dont want to get any sql injection so please tell me whats the best way to achieve it with or without passing url values.

Hello all,
Im a newbie to .net and have been teaching myself. I have created a data migration tool for my company using vb and also microsofts USMT. The way it is now i have one exe file and a folder with the USMT files in it. Is there anyway to add those files to the exe file so i just have one single file instead of the exe and folder?. This may be a stupid question but It would help me out greatly. THanks a lot.

I should exlain a little more
I dont need any reg edits or anything i just need to run the exe which calls robocopy and the USMT files with the appropriate info. Its a lot easier sending end users one exe file instead of the exe and USMT folder. Thanks again

Normally, you could include the files as resources in your .EXE. The problem is that you can't treat these as actual files in some file system. If you're using Robocopy to copy these files to some other location, then no, you can't put them into your .EXE.
BTW, what is USMT??

Thanks for the response. I am shelling out to robocopy to copy the users data such as my documents etc... The USMT is Microsofts User State Migration Tool it includes scanstate and loadstate, inf files, dll files and some other files. USMT will migrate desktop and OS settings all depending on how you customize your inf files. Its nice to transfer that stuff over for our executives, and they are happy when thier new laptop looks like the old one. The Migration Wizard i created is customized to my company, but if you would like me to send you my source code too look at id be more then willing. I tried adding the files as reference but unfortunatley i cannot add the .inf files so that isnt going to work.
I really wish there was a way to just have the one exe file.
