Hi
Have a machine here which blue screens even you stand near it..(PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA).
I have up to now....installed new ram (512Mb), removed all PCI cards except graphics . network and replaced hard drive. Still, on installing NT2000 / XP Pro it blue screens in random placs. Any ideas? Could the grapihcs card cause this? It's about the only replaceable I haven't changed.

It's doubtful. If it's in totally random places, then you could have a bad RAM or a bad motherboard. You MIGHT have a problem with the video card, or drivers, but it's not very likely.
Does the machine start and work OK in Safe Mode?

It blue screened in safe mode, in every mode.....but....late breaking news.....whilst reading / writing / googling about this / and picking up on what you've said, I've pulled out a DDIM and it does seem to be 'better'. It is installing further than it did before. Could it be a DIMM socket that's the problem as opposed to the DDIM itself? A retorical question - one I'll be able to asnwer myself before the end of what looks like is going to be a long night...!!!
I will post my results, good or bad when I have them!

Then you've probably got either a bad DIMM or the motherboard is bad. Neither isn't really cheap to replace.

Not likely. Well, if the machine was caked with it the CPU, or other components could help the machine overheat. But that's about it...

Also it can make a bad connection. I had dust AGP. And then i had inserted an Voodo 3. At first it all seems alright, but after driver install, i got always blue screen. Then i clean AGP with a Toothbrush, then it worked normal. There was a tame, that my computer it woudn't even turn on. Then i had clean it up and it worked.

Ummm...I always thought it was a "no-brainer" to clean the socket out (if needed) before trying to stuff a board in it? Probably why I've never had a problem with dust...

Having replaced so many items, I'd start suspecting the power supply quality. Have you got access to a DMM to measure the actual voltages at the power connector on the motherboard? They should all be within 5% to 10% of nominal, and should remain in that range (no intermittent dropouts).

I am not sure that this is the place to ask it but if not please tell me and i will ask it in the appropriate forum.
I wrote an application using VB.NET using VS 2005.
I tested it on windows XP with .NET framework 2.0 and it worked fine.
I want to test it on windows 2000/NT and my question is if i have to install it on my/other computer or there is an emulator/software testing enviroment which i can use?

i dont know if there's an emulator for windows !!
but u can install MS virtual machine or any other machine emulator then install whatever OS u want on it and test your software.
but to let u know its sooooooo slow!

In my opinion you should test it on the real machine to see if there is any problem during your testing process. Make sure that your testing deployment machine have dotnet framework 2.0 too.

You'll have to build a machine (real or virtual) with the O/S you want to try it on, then install the .NET Framework 2.0 on it, then install your application you want to test. I would recommend using a Virtual machine product, like Microsoft's Virtual PC, for this if you have the RAM to do it. You can find out more about it and download a 45-day trial version here[^].
The .NET Framework 2.0 cannot be installed on any version of Windows NT. On Windows 2000, 2.0 requires a minimum of Service Pack 4 in order to work.

I am trying to access xterm and xxgdb from SSH to implement semaphore in synch.h and synch.cc, but I keep getting the message explicit kill or server shutdown. Is there any otherway I can do the semaphore implementation.

Whenever I select from a page in a given subweb It fires up a second aspnet_wp.exe. This one has a memory leak in it and goes until it is recycled. As a result the page load is really slow. Any idea what causes the second one to come up?

You'll have to be much more specific about this.
But, if you want to find all the IP's that are in use on your network, you'll need a Network Scanner. What you'll do is ping every IP address on your network and show the ones that respond. BUT! There's a catch. Machines can be configured to not respond to pings, and so won't show up in a scan like this.
