na...problem...is...that dll is opening a session with mainframe....then opening a login form(vb)...takes the User information(UN,PASS,etc) pass to the mainframe system...checks for authentication...if correct....then pulls some data and shown to user.....previously it as working fine....but they have upgrated one of their S/W...which makes that dll not working...
me...just going through the code....really good code...some new features are there....new syntax....etc..tum madat karsakti ho but ....without proper environment samjhna muskil hai....like....mainframe....JAVA script...etc..

I have written a windows service that needs to be controlled and queried remotely. The Windows Service has an accompanying Web Service that I have implemented adequate security on and wish to be able to run the web service as Local System.
I am not able to change the settings on IIS as it is against our company's security policy and therefore I need to set the access credentials to the Serviceprocess via the object in the web service.
I can't, as yet, seem to find an adequate technote that will cover this and will be looking some more.
Any help will be grateful.
Server environment is Win 2000 Server, running IIS5, .net Framework 1.1.4322.

I want the credentials to be hardcoded into a different object that will be instantiated after the Session authentication has been completed.
It is the actual process, within the web service, of saying, service process run these actions as the local system please.
But the eternal question is How?

An object cannot grant itself more security than the object that launched it.
Are you absolutely sure your service needs Local System. That's an EXTREMELY powerful account (more than an Administrator!) Most services, unless they're doing kernel or driver level work, don't need that account.
You WebService, by default, runs under the ASP.NET account, which is pretty limited (for obvious reasons) when it comes to access to the rest of the system.
What exactly are you trying to do with this again? I couldn't quite figure it out in your first post. Why the two services and what are they doing?

Hi, I am querying a DB and I want to get the data (Around 1 crore records) in a dataset. then I want to perform other operations on the data in the dataset. However, the process does not complete correctly. The program displays an 'Out Of Memory Exception' and the process is terminated. Can anyone suggest how this issue can be overcome. Thnx for any help.

Thnx Deepak. I am using Vb.NEGT with MS Access. Do you mean to say that I need to use OledbDataReader to retrieve the data?

How many records are you reading???
Are you sure to need them all in memory at the same time, or can you get away with only reading a few at a time, while doing your processing.
And, yes, with an Access database, you have to use the OleDb database classes.

Hi, I am trying to get the entire data into the dataset and then let the user query this dataset as per his needs. What is happening currently is that every query is being run directly on the database. I want to avoid this.

I take it that you're loading 1 Million records? You're MUCH better off leaving the data in the database and just running the queries against that. The .NET Framework objects are not designed to handle that much data and are not nearly as efficient at searching through it as the database engine is.
The traffic you send and, more importantly, receive to/from the SQL Server (or whatever) will be FAR less than retrieving that mountain of records.

Hello,
I like 2 create the following coding :
a) Create a login page which will give access to the product page. B) Create a Product page has 2 drops down box that will fill from a access database.
1st dropdown is the product category that will fill up when you load the page.
2nd dropdown is the subcategory. When you select a subcategory it will display all the details regarding the items and the images with a shopping cart. I will need a customer page where new customers can sign up

Hi,
I have a webparts control containing an Asp.net listbox and a label. There is this public property called 'ListItems' which will appear in the properties window when the control is selected on the design page in VS 2005.
When the "ListItems" property is selected, the ListItemsCollection Editor window pops up and the user can add new list items. However, when the ok button is clicked, the listbox doesnt display the list items.
Below is a code snippet of the ListItems public property:

I am not working on a ready made ASP.Net VB listbox. I have to create a custom control and create a property which will display the List Items Edit window.
The issue is after adding the list items to the list items edit window, the list items are not added to the listbox, which is very unexpected.

You have to create the controls, like I preseume you already did, and add them to the Form's Controls collection. After that, you have to write your event handlers using Sub's with the same signature as the event you want to handle (see the documentation for each event), then manually wire up the events using AddHandler[^]. Don't forget to disconnect the events handlers using RemoveHandler if you need to destroy the controls later.

I have Exchange setup on a server and I am trying to write an ASP.NET application that saves some form data to a database, and then sends a notification email to a 3rd party.
I used the code, pretty much verbatim from here Support @ Microsoft[^]
I added the Office11 COM object as a reference; however, on the line oApp = New Outlook.Application() I get a weird error saying that the
ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
