There is no USB PXE Boot device. You CAN however boot from a USB ThumnbDrive (if your system supports it!). In that case, all you need to do is configure a PXE Boot Disk using what Service you have installed on your Server, and put that on the ThumbDrive.

Dear All,
I am getting problem during installation of Php-5.0.5 in Mandrake 9.1 .
Apache2 is running in this OS.
When I am running ./configure --with -apxs2=/.../...
It is giving ....
"checking lex output file ./configure :line 2428: lex command not found. can not find output from lex : giving up
Anybody in help ?

Hi everybody,
From last few weeks, I am struggling to make my color monitor look like black and white monitor.
Can anyone suggest me any means, by which I can change my windows theme to be completely black and white.
Or by programming, how can I change my graphics driver to render my windows in black and white.
I am getting very desperate to get this done, please help me in any way..struggling for this has already wasted my lot of time.

Control Panel - Display - Appearance tab - Advanced button. Start changing each element in the theme to some shaed of black and white.
This will NOT stop each application from drawing it's own elements in color.
But...why are you doing this????

Hello,
I am trying to create a custom window where my framework draws controls the nonclient areas completely; however, besides that the window should be as close to a standard as possible because I want to utilize it e.g. for DirectX.
Now, drawing of a window frame did not appear to be a big thing, it's just responding to the appropriate window messages. Only -- one problem is left.
Depending upon the current system setting "Properties"--"Display Properties"--"Appearence", the nonclient area is somehow clipped (e.g. rounded corners). Usage of function SetWindowRgn to achieve a strict rectangular window shape does not help. I guess the problem is caused by the metaregion but I do not see a way how to extend that region (Function SetMetaRgn produces an intersection of the current with the new region).
Is there a way to change the drawing rectangle of the nonclient area to the exact rectangle, regardless of the current appearence settings?

My company implemented a mandatory screen saver (all work related "rah-rah" thing) and made the Display->Property->Screensaver tab go away. I'm pretty sick of it poping up every 10 mins.
How can I get the screen saver tab back so I can change how long before it pops up and what pop's up?

Basically, you can't.
Your company created a policy that sets the screen saver and takes the tab away. You COULD get the tab back, but only briefly. Policies refresh themselves every so often. The refresh will reset any changes you make to what the policy specifies.
The only thing you can do is bitch at your IT people and see if someone can get that policy reversed or at least changed to be more flexible.

I did find the setting in the registry to get the tab back but I haven't located the program that is being run to put up the screen saver. The registry still says Marquee.scr. I could probably write a program to change the registry back to what I want every morning before I get in.
I did replace all the "Inspirational/company rah-rah" pictures folder with a bunch of Dilbert cartoons.

Those files aren't covered by the policy so you can get away with that.
Policy refresh can happen as fast as every minute, again controled by policy. Default, I think, was every 30 minutes. Also, you may no longer have the rights to change those registry values.

I just got this virus that restarts the computer. I think is called MS Blast. I have a windows home edition with service pack installed. I 've downloaded the patch from microsoft.com, and when i try to install it. it sais that the service pack version is more recent then the patch. So, then how do i get the virus out? (without formatting?)

Mandrake Linux 9.1 is having built in Apache(httpd) Web Server and is running successfully. I want to disable it(No removal) so that I can install my Apache2 .
Anybody can help me ?

Well, even Mandrake should have a stop-script.
Google for 'linux "stop apache"' without the single quotes.

Hi, in outlook express we could use a signature at the bottom of the message. The signature is in text format. But I want to include the logo of my organization in it. Does anyone know how to do that?

Go to the Message menu, New Message Using, then click Stationary. You can pick any .HTML file to use. You'll, of course, have to create an HTML page that will become your stationary. All you need to do is create a blank HTML page, complete with the <HTML> tags, and add your signature stuff.
You COULD put your company logo in there, but keep in mind that will add X number of bytes to EVERY message you send out. Also, clients receiving your messages might also have images blocked, so they may never see your logo anyway.

Have any of you ever found such an anoying OS like windows XP?
1) Those ballons warning you of something from the system tray area, allways poping up. Somthimes I feel like formating... again. Anybody knows how to disable them?
2) A few days ago, I was installing Microsoft Visual Studio 6. At the end a box showed up asking:
"The system needs to be restarted. OK to restart, Cancel to restart manually latter". Well, I was doing something else so I pressed "Cancel" and another box showed up: "Microsoft Visual Studio 6. Installation did not complete successefully. OK". OK then. But, another box showed up: "You need to restart your machine to complete the installation. Press OK". OK!?!?!?!? Where is the cancel now?? Dam it! Why did I press it the first time if now I don't have a choice? Not the same with Visual Studio .Net.
3) Have you ever tryed to create a folder named "aux" (without the ""). Well, try it.
4) I'm not shure every one will be able to see this one. I'm using the Windows XP Pro Portuguese version. For those who also use will certainly see this (if they try it). Go to Control Pannel -> Administrative Tools -> Services (I'm tanslating this, not shure about the names). Stop the "Windows Audio" service ("Áudio do Windows" in portuguese). Then try playing some sound on the media player or somthing. Check the error message that presents to you. Understand anything of what it's saying? Lool. For those that are not using the portuguese version, well, lets just say it makes no sense AT ALL! It will only confuse you more.
5) Which browser do you use? I use Firefox (the version is not important). The thing is: I went to "Control Pannel" -> "Add/Remove Programs" -> "Add/Remove windows components" (once again I remember, I'm translating this, not shure about the names) and removed IE and it DID remove (at least it said it did). But, surprise surprise, somethimes it shows up! I even went to "Help -> About" and it says it is IE (could be Explorer). But well... The same with MSN. I have removed it, but somethimes (you have to be very alert to detect this one) it shows up on the system tray!
6) This is probably the stupidiest bug I've ever found on windows XP. On your desktop choose some picture as background. The one I have is this. The only difference is that mine is 1024x768. Then, when it is loaded as a background, right click on an empty area of your desktop choose "Order icons by" and unset "Show icons on the desktop". If the same that happens to me is happing to you, you should be loosing A LOT of quality on your background image. It looks like it is missing some Anti Aliasing! lool. If you are not using the picture I've linked you to, please choose some picture somewhat "rounded".
7) Never happened to you, trying to delete some file and windows says you can't because it is being used by some other application, but you check it and it is not? Somethimes, I've even tryed to "Finish" the (allmost) all processes running on the background and still can't delete it. Most of the times I have to reboot.
Offcourse there are a lot of other bugs, but these ones are the most anoying ones... (and the ones I remember right now)
So, after seeing some uncompreensible warnings, very anoying ballons, TSR like programs (lol), applications that do not uninstall, knowing that "aux" folders are illegal on XP, and many more, what do you guys think of Windows XP? I just pray that Vista comes A LOT BETTER!!!! Because I'm seriouly considering switching to Linux!!!! (So many times I think I should have allready done it...)
Please post your oppinions.
