is there a way to create an app to retrieve data off an existing web page? Like downloading the monthly summary from the banking account. For myself, I would have to go to the web page, enter the login info, enter the report criteria (dates, entries,etc...), enter "submit", then a "save to" dialog box open for me to save the data into excel file. Then what I do is import that into another database that I use to organize it. Is there a way to have an app do that (from going to the web site, login, download. save..)

Hi.
I have tried to use the code and instructions and demo files that Doug posted on this site (http://www.codeproject.com/vb/net/dwDatePickerArticle.asp) to implement a datepicker for my asp page but I havent been able to get it working.
Can someone help me out?
I added the component to my Visual Studio toolbox and dragged it to my page as the instructions said but I keep getting a compilation error
"Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'iX' does not exist in the class or namespace 'DatePicker.iX.Controls.DatePicker' (are you missing an assembly reference?)"
Line 242:
Line 243: private System.Web.UI.Control __BuildControlDatePicker1() {
Line 244: DatePicker.iX.Controls.DatePicker __ctrl;
Line 245:
Line 246: #line 21 "http://localhost/WebApplication1/WebForm1.aspx"
Now Im not sure if I have done somethign wrong in the implementation or deployment of the component, but I wouldnt be surprised.
I put the dll in the bin directory and when I dragged the component to the page it added the required lines to the html, but I just cant get it working.
I even went so far as putting the "using iX.Controls;" line in my initial page as well...
Can anyone please help with this.
Cheers
Chris

You can use window.open in javascript and then set value=NO for title window.

Hi,
I need to implement a function that sends emails on a perticular date and time. The date and time is specified by the user when he posts a new event into a on-line calendar. The user should be allowed to decide when an event notification email will be sent to a group of people.
The database used for the project is SQL server. I learn about SQL server job scheduler can do it. But I don't know how to add a job into SQL server job list when a record is submited into database from web form.
Is there anybody having any advices?
Thanks in advance!

It's perhaps possible to add jobs dynamically, but not very practical, as the job hardly can remove itself afterwards.
Create a job that runs at a set interval, checking if there are any notifications to send.

I'm new to VS 2005 and am trying to play with installing a new website on my server. So, I got the TimeTracker starter kit, built it and then used Copy Web Site... to move the project to my server.
I connected ok (New Web Site...) then selected everything in the source window and clicked the right-arrow button. After churning away, I got a dialog saying the following:
<br />
---------------------------<br />
Copy Web Completed<br />
---------------------------<br />
There were errors during copy web. Please view log for details.<br />
---------------------------<br />
OK <br />
---------------------------<br />
I checked the contents of the website folder and found that the TimeTracker.mdf file had not been copied.
So, (finally!) here are my questions:
1) Where is this log I'm supposed to view for details?
and
2) Any guesses as to why the .mdf file won't copy?
TIA!
'til next we type...

I have set a treeview control 1.1 (Webcontrols). It postbacks on expand and collapse event also.(When + and - buttons clicked.) How to avoid that?
It loads the data(may be about 500 rows) in multiple levels during loading itself. How to avoid that?

How do I retrieve all my webPages + web services in .NET framework 2.0?
In framework 1.1 I used to do Assembly.GetTypes() and get everything, web pages, web services, classes.
In framework 2.0 it’s not the same story. There are App_code…dll, App_Global.dll, App_web…dll.
The only thing I was able to get is the App_Code by ReflectionOnlyLoadFrom() method.
Is there a way to get everything like I did before?

Is there a way for me to determine the screen resolution or the size of an object like a table on a web page so I can customize the rendering the table header?
Here is what I am trying to do.
I have a picture I would like to fill the entire with of the table head. Below it is a centered and framed company name. I use div(s) to put a border [ridge] around the graphic and center and frame [grooved border] the company name.
The table has two columns and the row used as the masthead spans the 2 columns. The page was developed using HTML at a width of 1280 pixels.
At lower resolutions, down to 1024 pixels, I would like to put in different width graphics so the page does not extend past the edge of the screen.
At higher resolutions I would like to change the format of the table head to a row that has two columns. In the left column I would like to put the graphics and in the right column the framed company name.
Is there a way to do this? Java script would be OK. I do not want to tie into any MS specific things so as not to alienate a potential customer who may not be using IE.
I'm on-line therefore I am.

Are you using a doctype for a frameset page?
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
What do you mean with doctype?
I use an HTML page
with the frameset in it!
In this page i fill one frame with an aspx page
|
|
|
|
|
The doctype tag determines what version of html is used. If you don't have a doctype on the page Visual Studio will use the default, which naturally is not a frameset doctype.
A frameset page isn't just a html page with a frameset, as the frameset tag replaces the body tag of a normal html page.

b { font-weight: normal; }

This the HTMl tag I use:
Do i have to use another type?
