the question was previously asked in the lounge, then, several answers came there, and the guy who asked it may be susceptible, so he deleted all his posts in relation to this, then...

Hi, i read some security book and they recommend to turn off File and Print sharing service in order to prevent an unauthorize access from the hacker. From here, i have a question: if i still turn on file and print sharing but i do not share my file, is it possible for hacker to access my document and system file? If it is possible, how could the hacker do that to access my file?

Sure, but no hacker would waste their time going through the share to do it. They usually just write something that opens a port on your machine and allows remote connections from the hacker. They can then use their little zombie that you've unknowningly installed by opening the wrong attachment in an email or clicked on the wrong link.
Now they can do far more than just copy a file from your machine.

Do you know any resource that descript the technic to do it and prevent it. Because it is difficult for to communicate with other people while i turn off file and print sharing because i want to improve my security in my computer.

That's like asking if there is a website dedicated to describing the techniques of bank robber's and safe crackers...
Believe it or not, you can only have the hardware and software secured so far. After that, YOU are the biggest security risk to your own machine.
If you want something to start with, try Microsoft's Baseline Security Analyzer, here[^].

There is no prewritten .EXE to do this. You could write your own app to do this using any lanugage you want, but WMI would probably come in handy.

Thank you very much for your information. I will try to find WMI script to do it or try to build my own application.

Hi, does anyone know how to copy the file from the recycle bin to the diskette or flash drive? Because i don't want to restore the file back to an original folder, because it might mess my other file.
|
|
|
|
|
Right click on the file in the Recycle Bin folder and 'Cut' it, then paste it whereever you want it to go.

Thank you very much for your idea. But it will lost from the recycle bin. How could it copy only to a difference place but still keep remain in the recycle bin?
|
|
|

I dont *think* it's directly possible through Explorer, you'd probobly need to write something to do it yourself.
The only way would be to cut and paste it somewhere else, copy it and then delete it again... Thats that whole increased productivity thing in action again

Hello,
I have a GIF that is the cover of a textbook. I want to convert it so I can
store documents in it (i.e. the textbook). How to proceed? Thanks!
|
|
|
|

You want to convert a GIF FILE into a FOLDER???
Not going to happen.
You can scan the pages of the book and make a PDF file out of them, but you'll have to wander over to Adobe's site for that. You won't be able to do it without a good amount of manual labor.

In my opinion, it is impossible to do that.

I used the following links also, but many problem arrived.

c#.net code, changes Local IP Address
ManagementBaseObject inPar = null;
ManagementBaseObject outPar = null;
ManagementClass mc = new ManagementClass("Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration");
ManagementObjectCollection moc = mc.GetInstances();
foreach( ManagementObject mo in moc )
{
if( ! (bool) mo[ "IPEnabled" ] )
continue;
inPar = mo.GetMethodParameters( "EnableStatic" );
inPar["IPAddress"] = new string[] { "128.10.63.63" };
inPar["SubnetMask"] = new string[] { "255.255.0.0" };
outPar = mo.InvokeMethod( "EnableStatic", inPar, null );

This is the VB.NET version:
Dim inPar, outPar As ManagementBaseObject
Dim mc As New ManagementClass("Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration")
Dim moc As ManagementObjectCollection = mc.GetInstances()
For Each mo As ManagementObject In moc
If DirectCast(mo("IPEnabled"), Boolean) Then
inPar = mo.GetMethodParameters("EnabledStatic")
inPar("IPAddress") = New String(){"128.10.63.63"}
inPar("SubnetMask") = New String(){"255.255.0.0"}
outPar = mo.InokeMethod("EnableStatic", inPar, Nothing)
Exit For
End If

Thank u Mr. Richard Deeming for the code conversion!!!!! Some error were found but After removing these the following code is best!!!! (with running condition)
Dim inPar, outPar As ManagementBaseObject
Dim mc As New ManagementClass("Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration")
Dim moc As ManagementObjectCollection = mc.GetInstances()
For Each mo As ManagementObject In moc
If DirectCast(mo("IPEnabled"), Boolean) Then
inPar = mo.GetMethodParameters("EnableStatic")
inPar("IPAddress") = New String() {"128.10.63.65"}
inPar("SubnetMask") = New String() {"255.255.0.0"}
outPar = mo.InvokeMethod("EnableStatic", inPar, Nothing)
Exit For
End If

He's looking for code to CHANGE the IP, not just get the current IP's.
