Hi, does anyone know how to get folder permission in vb.net? For example i have a folder c:\myfolder and to use vb.net to get an information of what kind of permission that user have access on it.

Only .NET 2.0 has the permissions stuff encapsulated in the Framework. .NET 1.0 and 1.1 don't. But, there are 3rd party libraries that do encapsultate this stuff for you. Check out this[^] article for a couple of them.

Dave, thank you very much for your comment. But the code is written in visual studio .net. Is it possible to work in VBA in Ms. Access application. Because i need to export some query data into backup file and export other other safe place, so I need to check the permission of the target folder whether i could create the file or not. That is why i need to check the target permission with the current user log on. Any idea?

How about just trying to create the file and catching the UnauthorizedAccessException when it fails?

You should have specified you were using VBA for Access in your post. There are a few VB6 examples that exist for playing with ACL's on files and folders.
But Robert is correct. In your case, this is a grossly convoluted method for checking to see if you can write a file to a folder. All you need to do is try to create it. If the user running the app doesn't have the permissions, it'll error out and you just trap the error with On Error Goto label or On Error Resume Next code.

Hey All,
I stuck with very little but (big for me) Problem
I want to add the status bar panels in right to left direction
Means My 1st panel at the rightmostside of status bar then 2nd & 3rd so on.
By default the panels add at the left side
How to make that at right side aligned.

How can I make an .EXE file ? for example, I creat a vb.net program that allow to type custom message on its text box. Then after click a "Make an EXE" button, a new .EXE file will be compiled and created. Of course, that new .EXE file will have the code : msgbox(Custom Message)

Let me try to interpret what you are asking for.
What you want to do is create an application which creates an application. The user enters text in a textbox, and the app creates a program which displays the text in a msgbox. Is this correct?
I guess if I had to do that, I would have the first app create a new .VB file with code to call a msgbox, inserting the textbox.text. Save the file, and then call the VB.Net command line compiler, vbc.
Something like this:
vbc NewApp.vb

Yes, it is, but it's hardly trivial. You'll be creating a COM-based server form a COM-based client (IE).
Search the articles for toolbar and you'll come up with this list[^].

Hi,
I have create an application to associate extension with our any selected application.
It is created by setting registry values as,
HKCR - .tot
HKCR - MyAppName - shell - open - command - "C:\MyAppName.exe"
Now it is working fine. But when I choose right click on any ___.tot file, it shows only MyAppName icon under openwith menu.
How do I set my Application name near that icon on right click open with menu.

Is there any way to detect (in a vb windows application) what languages are available for display? On my computer (running Windows 2000) my cultureinfo is en-US but I have script support for Traditional Chinese. Yet I have not found a way in my windows app program to detect that I have support for the Chinese language. In my program I want to show the text in Chinese if user can display Chinese, otherwise I want to keep all text in english.

Such a simple task such as this is messing with my brain.
I have a button which toggles a web browser control being visible
or not. I have two images, one for the browser being visible, one for
it not. I have the button working so when i click it, the browser disapears
and reappears but i cannot figure out how to get the button to change its
background image back and forth. Please help. thank you.

Which button property are you referring to? BackgroundImage or ImageIndex? If the latter, add an image list to your form and populate it with the two bitmaps you want to toggle between on the button. Then add this code to the button click event.
