 Dear friends
I am looking for a method to synchronize reading text with nariation.
assume that we havwe a textBox with some lines of text which a nariation
is playing in background and the lines of text shuld be selected respect to
the line which narriator is reading.
any code or idea is appriceated.

Before we can help you, you'd have to give us some more info. Is the narration a static wave file? Or is the narration generated by the system using text-to-speech?

Yes, as you mentioned the narration is a ststic wave/mp3 file saved on disk.
the narrator reads text lines and text lines should be selected or changes color to show the user which line is currently reading.

I'm afraid this is a little difficult to do. At the very least, you're going to have to have some voice recognition software that recognizes what the speaker is saying. Perhaps you could look at the Microsoft Speech API[^] for that. When the speech API software recognizes words, it should attempt to highlight your string, which can be done easily if you use the right control; the standard RichTextBox should suffice for that.

Hi friends
I'm working on a project in which I have to get each line of webBrowsr text
to count number of words and do some process on that line. I tried working with mshtml.IHTMLDocument2 document but there is not any access to lines of webBrowser text there.
Please let me know if some of you knows the solution.

The Document object will give u access to All the elements in the Page
including the | so once you can loop till the | tag where the actual text is

I have a Main Application that uses viusal inheritance to call 30 or so other forms. Therefore, I have about 30 dll's that I reference that represent each form. I want to be able to instantiate each form only once. If the form already exists, I want to bring it to focus.
I have done this using the following code:
private static Namespace.Class Form = null;
button1_ClickEvent()
{
if ( Form == null || Form.IsDisposed == true)
{
Form = new Namespace.Class();
Form.Show();
}
Form.BringToFront();
}
This is where my problem arises. I have to write this code for each form I "plan" on instantiating. How could I roll this up into a function or class that I could "call" for each form?
For instance:
private Instance(Form, Namespace, Class)
{
if ( Form == null || Form.IsDisposed == true)
{
Form = new Namespace.Class();
Form.Show();
}
Form.BringToFront();
}
I would then pass all of the respective variables.

You can do that using reflection. But you'd then need to maintain a hashtable of sorts to keep track of which forms are currently visible. If you can do that, then the following code will work.
private Form CreateIfNeeded(Type formType)
{
Form f = (Form) formMap[formType];
if (f == null)
{
f = (Form)Activator.CreateInstance(formType);
f.Show();
}
f.BringToFront();
}

Why would I need to use the HashTable? The way I had it setup didn't use one. I simply checked whether or not the form was active or not. It seems like there would be an easier way of doing this. I really appreciate your help.

That's because you wanted a generic method to do the job. If you don't have a hashtable, how will you know if a form a has been instantiated or not? In other words, from where will you get the instance of the form to check if it's null or disposed?

I'm working on a project in which I have two DLLs, one Managed C++ - a bridge to some unmanged code, and one C# dll which is linked to the MC++ DLL to do the real work. Is there a way in thew new .Net world of static linking the C# dll to the MC++ one? It would be more elegeant than having two files drifting about.

Hello,
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition and I'm writing an application with C# using the .NET 2.0 framework. I've come across a little problem when I want to create my remote objects.
The problem is that I cannot create a TcpChannel. I use the following code:
using System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp;
m_TcpChanServ = new TcpChannel(10000);
The problem is that the compiler complains that it doesn't know the Tcp namespace. It worked with VS2003. Was the Tcp namespace moved under .NET 2.0 or is it unavailable for the Standard Edition of visual studio?

Did you try explicitly adding a reference to System.Runtime.Remoting.dll?

I din't try this, yet... I think that the reference is the problem. I'm still used to C++ and that headers do all that magic for me.

Hello people,
I'm gonna go right to the problem.
Using the eventlog class I'm reading the entries from the Windows Event Apllication Log. If I then look at the TimeGenerated property of every entry and I compare that value against the value from the Windows Event Viewer application, I stumble upon something weird.
Event1:
Time in event viewer = 1:53:34 PM
Time from Eventlog class = 2:53:34 PM
Time from Eventlog class, ToUniversalTime = 12:53:34 PM
Event2:
Time in event viewer = 10:12:39 AM
Time from Eventlog class = 10:12:39 AM
Time from Eventlog class, ToUniversalTime = 9:12:39 AM
Does anyone know how this is possible? Who is right, the Event Viewer or the EventLog class? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the regional settings during event1 being different from these settings during event2?

when i am trying to connect to a Sql Server 2000 database from VS.Net 2005 i'm getting the following error :
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file c:\inetpub\wwwroot\casterVB\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
so what is this aspnetdb.mdf file ?
