Something in between coding and relaxing darenkov9-Nov-05 14:06 darenkov 9-Nov-05 14:06  During the week most of the work I do (albeit interesting) is not what I would call fun. Therefore, I like to use the weekend to do dev and work on projects that I enjoy (which is a form of relaxation itself), but also relax and do other things. You spend 1 complete day programming, 1/2 day gaming and 1/2 day other stuff. I assume here that you play computergames instead of board games. Is your girlfriend OK with this? Where do you find time for your social contacts a.k.a. friends and family? Anyway, I wish that I had so much time to code for myself. Would speed up my projects a lot. She is really understanding though, so it is all cool. She knows I love me computer....however ask me in 6 months once the baby pops out. I might have to cut that ratio back to 25% programming 25% is enough for my family. There aren't many of them here. Just parents and sisters. what ratio's do you spend on the weekend? I'm still in college and I do my homework during the weekdays at night. It figures that she wants my time in the weekend. My programming ratio in the weekend is 0% unless I've got some urgent deadline right after the weekend. During the weekdays, may programming ratio is 50% when it comes to private projects and homework. One year ago with my wife we had a baby and everything changed forever. It is not bad, but forget about programming and playing computer games or having a "personal" life. I still do it but the only time I found left is from 23:00PM to 3:00AM no kidding!!. Enjoy it, now that you can. Dunlap 10-Nov-05 20:31  Well, it started out because people would type search terms into the "text answer" textbox, thinking it was a search textbox (and incidentally they still do but not as often). How they mistook it for that, I don't know - they must have just looked for any textbox on the page and started typing into it! So, one fateful day, Chris Maunder posted this post[^]. Then, some guy thought it would be funny to put "CListCtrl" into the textbox to poke fun at the phenomenon, and it became a trend, which has carried on for over 2 years. The lousy weather this weekend pretty much discouraged us from going out. In a way, it was good timing as it we were planning to build our first release candidate of Visual Lint this weekend anyway. In fact, we got so engrossed in it that we didn't even get around to watching the House of Flying Daggers[^] DVD which Beth bought for me on Friday. Normally things are a bit more chilled. The occasional movie, some experimental cooking (I'm no slouch in the kitchen, but Beth has to be seen to be believed) and even a walk by the beach when we're in Bournemouth together. All in all life's good right now. Even if I don't get time to think about it!
