Hi guys,
I have to make a dialog based application in VC++,in which I need to output some audio frequencies through the speaker system as I did in C by simply calling "sound(frequency)" from dos.h.
Here also I need the same thing in the environment of VC++,i.e., the audio frequency may be supplied at runtime or statically given at compile time.
I need the analogous of the following in VC++, which I found in C within dos.h.
C------------------------------ VC++
sound(unsigned)--------- ?
delay(unsigned)--------- ?
nosound()--------------- ?
Can any one of you help me?

Ok. So I'm working on a web service client in unmanaged C++ which is derived from CSoapSocketClientT.
I know that when creating a web service in .Net(C#,vb,c++) one have to use (through CookieContainer property) CookieContainer class to maintain session between requestes to the server. Is there something similar for unmananged C++ web service client? Or is generated (at "add web reference.." time) code's doing it somehow magicaly on it's own?
Please help!

My question is why do the system wide hoks are done with dll and not generally in normal c++ file.That means if I
want to register to intercept the message why the hooks are put in the dll and how it is possible that using dll
it intercepts all the message while through normal c++ it is not.

Because a DLL can be mapped into the address space of another process. An EXE can not be mapped into the address space of another EXE.
If you only want your hook to act on the EXE in which it is contained, it does not need to be in a DLL as long as the hook can be set to type LOCAL. Some are only GLOBAL hooks, and they must always be inside a DLL to work correctly.

OnDraw() function performs screen display, print preview etc.,. Its a member of CView class.
OnPaint() function performs repaint the application window. Its a member of CWnd class.
OnInitDialog() is used for performing some special initializations when the Dialog box is being initialized. Its a member of CDialog class. It is somewhat a constructor type only.

Can anyone tell me if there is a 3D pie chart available (i.e. looks like a cake viewed from an angle) for Visual C++ .NET with MFC (unmanaged code).

There are 3 pie-chart controls here[^] but unfortunately the only angle they provide is a 90° overhead view.

I think i understand what you are talking about, if you have ever seen the program Edit in MS-DOS you would see a menu, but honestly i dont know how to make one,

Yep, remember it well. What most folks don't know is that the editor was actually qbasic.exe. Edit.com was used to call qbasic.exe and remove any programming-specific menu items.
As far as how to do it, output to a console window using printf(). It's been over a decade since I've done any "console graphics" (e.g., colors, shadows, blocks, 'windows', x/y coordinates) but I'm sure there are still plenty of examples that can be Googled for.

Hi there.
I am currently working on a project to identify users using their typing dynamics. I want to use the intervals
between keystrokes on the keyboard as a user type in their passwords, to identify the users.
I am using Windows XP and Visual Studio C++ 2003 to develope a MFC application project. I want to use a dialog with an edit box
to allow the user to enter his/her username and password.
I cannot process the WM_KEYDOWN and WM_KEYUP messages because when you type in the edit box, the keyboard focus is
on the edit box and not on the dialog.
Will a keyboard hook help me in my mission or will I have to use something else. Something else that is easier to use will also work.
If you could help me I would appreciate it alot.

If you subclass the edit box, you can pick up the WM_KEYDOWN and WM_KEYUP messages (or indeed any other message), and process them. This article[^] shows how to capture key strokes to create a numeric-only edit box, but it shows how to capture the messages, process them, and then pass them on to the parent window, which is what you'll need to do, I would think.
