Hi,
i am trying to add a com component in C# but the component is not been able to add, i.e. when i try to add, following error is displayed
"Add reference: error adding reference to project"
for additional info, i have a sample sdk that is using the component it is actually developed under VC 6.0 and is using .idl files
is it possible to use this component in C# if possible how,
i am also trying to add the same component in VC(managed)windows component but the problem is still the same
Will some body please me, i will be very thankfull.

If the com component has a type library, you can use tlbimp to create an interop assembly for the com component, then add a reference to the interop assy to your project.

Can any one tell me if there is any way to open a dial up internet connection from my .NET aplication? What i need is that my program open the internet connection (MODEM) send an e-mail and then close the internet connection (Hang off the modem).

did you add a project reference to System.Web.Dll (so it could find the implementation of the namespace you wish to use) ?
What do you mean it "doesn't work"? How on earth could you expect someone to help you with such scant information about your problem? A snippet of the failing code, along with the error messages you are seeing is the bare minimum you should provide if you really expect help with this.

Did you seen EasyMail in www.quicksoftcrop.com ? It has a free component to send SMTP email to mail servers. If this is OK,See the www.QkSoft.com to download a virtual SMTP server and test your application with this server.
If you want send email to Yahoo mail server you can use mx1.yahoo.com as your free SMTP server otherwise you can't relay your mails by this server !!

I'm sorry but you have to be more specific. Are you the client or the server at this point. If you are the client, have you received a stream from the server? If you are the server, are you trying to read a file from the client?

I've recently learned how to add a DLL to my App using the "Add Reference"
from the "Project" menu.
Is adding a .NET module just as easy (meaning without a command window?)
If the answer to the above is "no" then How would I add "MyServer.cs" as a .NET module to "MyClientApp" using VS environment(i.e. not w/ Notepad,, etc....)?

in the "solution explorer" window, right click on the project node. Choose "Add". Choose "new Class". In the dialog. give the class the name you want... this will create a new class (and its .cs file) in the current project.
If you have an existing .cs file choose "add existing item" then browse to the file you want to add. The default "open" button will make a copy of that file in your current project directory (note that the button is really a drop-down combo under cover) if you drop down the "open" button, you can choos "link to project" instead. This will just add the file, in its current location, to the project as a linked itm. This is useful when you need to share common code between several projects.

By modules, if you meant classes, then ignore this post.
AFAIK, assemblies are the most basic units in .NET, you can't add references to individual modules within an assembly.
If you're talking about adding modules to your project's assembly (as opposed to adding references to them), then that's possible using the command line.

The \ character is escape character in C# strings. To put a \ character in a string you have to escape it, that is using \\.
Or you can put @ before the string, then it does not process escape sequences.

You don't.
Unless you run a component or applet in the browser, so that the user can accept it, there is no way you can get any information at all about the client's file system.

if you have sufficient rights to the clients pc, and the file is on a shared directory, you could use a UNC path: \\ComputerName\Sharename\....\filename.ext

I'm trying to open a user with insert SQL query to Access. This is the statements:
