Oh jeez, I may be getting in over my head here. First off I'm working in .asp. Yeah, I have a lot of people telling me how great and fast .php is, thing is, I'm nice and comfy in with my .asp skill level. Anyway, I'm going to be taking over a webpage for a local night club, and of course they have a calendar. My idea is - rather than upload a new static calendar every month (as I have been doing), I was looking for a server-side script that would pull content from a database and update itslef each day. Yes, I know there is calendar software out there, but I'm not looking to buy anything, and I like the clean look of a vertical table rather than a chunky calendar that takes up the whole browser, though I wouldn't be opposed to using both in the future. I've searched a bit, but haven't found what I'm really looking for. So - any links to scripts or snippets? Honestly, I'd really prefer a tutorial if there is such a thing.
Oh, I'd like to be able to dynamicaly upload images too, but I don't know that my database would support that?

I have my sharepoint server tied into active directory, but it still prompts for login and password. It is comparing the login and password to AD objects....that part works fine. Is there a way to use the windows login criteria to log in transparently? Bottom line, I don't want the login box to come up if I am using the same login name I used for windows login.
Any ideas?

I created a Table inside a form on an ASP page with the following; 1 row 3 columns
Person Name Checkbox1 checkbox2.
I populate the table from a database thus having multiple rows from the input.
My problem is I can't figure out how to go back and read the form after submitting. I am trying to figure out how read the array of rows I have created from the form.
Any ideas. I feel like I am not to clear on what I am asking.

hi guys,
I needs some help here.
i got a website developed using .net(aspx).
the site works just fine and i added some meta + titles in hebrew so the search engines will rank me as high as possible.
most of the searchs engines ranks me high i got only a MINOR(??) PROBLEM with google,
from some reason ,when searching there i get a strange result, the result is in unknown language.. something like chineese..
my meta are using hebrew content type + charset is set to be windows-1255.
what do i'll have to do ?

Hi everyone,
This is more of a Visio web developer question!
I have a visio compatible XML string that I want to flush to the client machine. I want to know how to set the MIME type and pass the XML string so that it opens it in VIsio on the client machine. I tried setting the "application/x-visio" in the response object's content type field, but that only tries to save it as an ASP.NET page!
Well, I even tried registering the MIME type with IIS and setting the content type field to application/vnd.visio.xml. Then, in my application I do:
Response.Clear();
Response.Charset = "";
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.visio.xml";
But it still interprets it as a ASP page. I also tried "application/vnd.ms-visio". That also did not work. When I use application/vnd.visio then it tries to interpret the document as the native Visio format 
Also, I noticed something with IE. Some macros and ActiveX creation within Visio do not work, even if user enables macro on prompt. What I wanted was to stream the visio content to the client, start an instance of visio and be able to use all the features. I do not want the IE to host Visio application inside.
Guys, please help me! I would be in deep trouble. I should have looked at this before doing all this development! I would be even willing to pay some bucks to someone who helps here!

Hello
I'm writing some server-side web services. But now i'm stuck
What i have doneso far is write some code that takes username and password and validatest them useing a backend db table. If ok i return a token, just a string with a random number in it
My question - what do i do next
I though of putting the value in a saop header so that calling web services (the clients) can use this token to make sure the user is valid and so that the user doen't have to keep logging on. Also i need to check the token is still valid e.g. check the timestamp, if it is about to expire renew it, otherwise redirect user to a login page
Does this seem plausible
Any help much apreciated

I have created Forms using FormCreator module with DotNetNuke.When we use FormCreator module,all forms will be in database and dynamically loaded on page load.Now I have all the forms in my portal and in my database.My problem is how can i copy all these forms to another portal?If i upload zip file of formcreator module or exporting data from database doesn't work.Expecting somebody can show my way.

I don't think that is possible. Then again, I could be wrong, but I've never heard of email being sent from the client side. Is there any reason why you couldn't post the information to an asp / asp.net / perl / php / etc. type page?

Visual Studio 2k3 runs on DotNetFramework 1.1
If you don't have Visual Studio 2k3 installed on the computer you are trying to run the c# code from, then you could just download the framework itself so you don't have to mess with another Visual Studio install.
The easiest place to get the framework is windowsupdate from Microsoft.
If you already have the framework installed, then it is another problem and you might have to supply more detail, like any error messages.

If you installed IIS AFTER the .NET Framework, you will have to run aspnet_regiis.exe. You can find this in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 directory.
This program will register the .NET Framework in IIS.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to debug an ActiveX dll that I wrote in VB that is being called from an ASP page. I set the break point in the VB IDE, and run the debug. The ASP page does not find the interface. If I do a make, and register the dll, the asp page executes the code from the dll, but I need to be able to debug it from the VB IDE. I have removed the registered dll from the registry. I also have full permission set up in the directory that contains the ActiveX project and the same permission set up on the directory that contains the ASP page.
I am running on WindowsXP Pro with all latest updates installed, and VB 6.0. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Challenge:
Customer wants to trigger Outlook (default email client) from web page with pre-formatted message text, in order to use an Exchange Server Contact/Addresses (within a secure Domain).
We successfully used the standard "mailto:" approach, HOWEVER, the pre-formatted text can sometimes exceed the 'total' max length (which seems to be app 2000 characters - give or take a few for headers, etc).
Is there a way to get around the max length limitation? ... or any alternatives? (must be able to access Outlook Contact Addresses).
If anyone can meet this challenge, I'll definitely become a more frequent poster (and helper if ever I can!)

We are passing the emial text body as part of the "mailto:" ...
hlEMAIL.NavigateUrl = "mailto:?subject=" + sbSubject + "&body=" + sbTextBody.ToString();
where sbTextBody appears to have to be less than 1997 characters.
We have been researching the technical specs within the RFC's.

It indicates:
2.1.1. Line Length Limits
There are two limits that this standard places on the number of
characters in a line. Each line of characters MUST be no more than
998 characters, and SHOULD be no more than 78 characters, excluding
the CRLF.
The 998 character limit is due to limitations in many implementations
which send, receive, or store Internet Message Format messages that
simply cannot handle more than 998 characters on a line. Receiving
implementations would do well to handle an arbitrarily large number
of characters in a line for robustness sake. However, there are so
many implementations which (in compliance with the transport
requirements of [RFC2821]) do not accept messages containing more
than 1000 character including the CR and LF per line, it is important
for implementations not to create such messages.
The more conservative 78 character recommendation is to accommodate
the many implementations of user interfaces that display these
messages which may truncate, or disastrously wrap, the display of
more than 78 characters per line, in spite of the fact that such
implementations are non-conformant to the intent of this
specification (and that of [RFC2821] if they actually cause
information to be lost). Again, even though this limitation is put on
messages, it is encumbant upon implementations which display messages
to handle an arbitrarily large number of characters in a line
(certainly at least up to the 998 character limit) for the sake of
robustness.
Another source (http://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2368.txt)
indicates:
RFC 1738 requires that many characters in URLs be encoded. This
affects the mailto scheme for some common characters that might
appear in addresses, headers or message contents. One such character
is space (" ", ASCII hex 20). Note the examples above that use "%20"
for space in the message body. Also note that line breaks in the
body of a message MUST be encoded with "%0D%0A".
With all that, we thought we had it licked (each line break was followed by %0D%0A and no single 'subs string" was longer than 78). However, still, if the sum of the text body is > 1997, Outlook will not 'pop'.

Ahhh...This is an interesting one. I realize you are using the mailto method to force an outlook window. Can I ask why you are forcing the client to use a third-party mail window like outlook as opposed to using an SMTP control inside of .NET? I mean, other than the address book reason...

Good question J!!! You're on the ball!
Originally, we did set up a full SMTP process for them, with some good bells and whistles enhancing the functionality. BUT! They wanted to be able to get to their Outlook Email Address Book (which is on their Domain, and available while the user is looged on to their PC). The customer is very LARGE... as in thousands of Email Addresses... they never want to duplicate/maintain an email address in (our) system inconjunction with the address book.
I researched alternatives, but .NET (C#) communications with Outlook appear to be intended for Server w/ it's own Outlook, and/or for Windows Forms (not Web Forms as we are using here).
That's the BIG picture!

Here is what I would do:
Make a combo box or whatever type of input you want based on an outlook control. Basically, dig up the list of contacts for the user before the form and make them the possible choices of the to address for coming smtp control.
One place you might want to look for how to create an outlook object in .NET is http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=313787[^]
I saw an example of something like this a while ago. It was something like this:

BUT! I have tried that, and I think it is tangled up in the Web Form vs Windows Form overlap. (I find the MS Docs don't always highlight the distinction, or make it obvious).
When attempting the above within C# Code Behind, it can't instantiate the Outlook Application (run time erorr). This is may be due to two things:
1) Outlook must be installed along with the Web Server (and would thus require a domain user login at the customer site)
or
2) This approach does not work with Web Forms.
It would be logical (to me) that under Windows Forms, the Client's Outlook would be what is referenced from the Code behind. I can't fiind MS docs which clarify that this is only for Windows forms or that the Outlook must be installed with the server as well!
In any case, I'm not sure a large address book (such as the custonmer has) would be practical within a web based application.
