Datetime doesn't except null values (that is usually how it is set up), so if you want to insert a blank value I believe you can just insert "' '".

Hi
I am using html server controls with vb.net.
I used sqlDataAdapter and Dataset to connect to tables.
I am using sqlCommand to insert records in to database.
If there is a better way to insert or update custom fields please tell me.
Error: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format
Error Code:

Date_Reg_RI is a dateTime field in Database sql server2000 and i want to keep it blank.
Any quick help is welcome.

Hello,
i did a forum aplication for my website. i do have a error sounds -
METADATA tag contains a TypeLibrary specification that does not match any registry entry.
Do i have to change the line to any other???
Im using a PWS on a windows98 platform.

I have a asp page that get the html string from a 3rd-webserver by using ASPTear component.
The problem is: it perform on server-side (my webserver), so my server is hard-loaded.
How could I transfer the process load html string from 3rd-webserver to the client side, not server side.

Hi Hitesh:
1) In Parent window, you can have a global JavaScript variable and set its value to a defined one, from its window.onLoad event.
2) In Child window, you can query this value. If it does not match or is 'undefined' or null, then it means, parent has not loaded completely. Else, it means, the parent has completely loaded.

When I click a button on an ASP page, I want to open a new popup window and submit the parent ASP page to itself. Once this ASP page is reloaded, I want to close the popup window.

I am trying to write a simple batch file to get a project from source safe, build it using the vs.net cmd line and then deploy it somewhere.
I am using the following line to get the project from vss:
ss get $/MyProjects/MyProject1 -R -I- -NL
–R -> recursive
-I- ->don’t ask for input
-NL -> use long names (alternatively –NS for short names)
However, this is an asp.net project, all the filenames are being trimmed when getting from vss, and this results in files being copied over. I have searched the documentation and on the web and cant find my answer, can anyone help?

If you are using Session to store varchar values then you have to initialize with some values such as Session("SafeTrack")="none", or
If you are using Session to store integer or float values then you have to initialize with some values such as Session("SafeTrack")=0
Session("SafeTrack") = "" does not specify data type you are storing in session. hence it leads to Type Mismatch

I am creating a web app that has several UserControls loaded. What I want to do is when the user clicks the Datalist Item that has a Controls corresponding value, it sets the UserControl to being visible. All the other UserControls are set to hidden.
I know how to set Textboxes etc to hidden and visible using Javascript, but how do I set the UserControl to hidden and visible when the correct item in the datalist is selected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent that worked brilliantly. Just have to set the height and width and visibility, as I was having a problem that the rest of the items below the ascx page (static data/GUI) do not move down when you set the visibility to visible.
It seems to place is over the top of the items currently on the page, instead of moving them down.
We will have to set the height depending on the size of the DIV that we set up for each control.
Is there any way of getting the height of the DIV tag as a variable and just increasing the height based on the height of the div that should be visible. IE: can you get the div's height value at run time from the client side script, and when setting the visibility, setting the height also?

Dear CPians,
Has anyone ever come up with any problems related to Sessions in IIS or with Macromedia Communication Server when the client accessing the website uses toolbar addin such as the Google bar or the MSN Toolbar?
I think that there is an issue with Macromedia Communication server and I am wondering wether there is a problem with IIS too.
My experince shows that when using MSN Toolbar or Google Bar and accessing a Flash that communicates with the communication server, the connection on server will never close even when the browser is closed and the pc rebooted. This does not happen when the toolbar addin is disabled.
Today, I noticed some abnormal session handling by IIS on another website and thought that it could be the same problem as the one above.
What I am asking is if anyone has noticed any problems like this. It might be my code, but so far I have been through alot of debuging and haven't found the flaw, so I started wondering if there is a more general problem. I have googled the problem but no related links came up.
Any hint, help, idea is wellcomed!
