does anyone know how macromedia does the silent install of the flash player? do i need wise to automatically install some components? or can i use msi...if so how do i do it?

i know that other tools have a "/silent" option, where you can execute them with the silent commandline flag. i would presume that msi would have the same or similar...

Even though it is not defined on this page :p, the .msi install option you want is "/q". I'm sure there is a similar list of .msi install option flags somewhere on Microsoft's site...

Hi everyone,
i have an ASP.NET service site, that is used to send a link to the mobile of the customer to download a file from our server throught GPRS, now the problem i face is that i want this customer to download this file only one time...then if he try to download the file again, he cant...
so is there any to know if this customer downloaded this file , or is there any way the web server can know that a gprs connection contacted that file and it has been downloaded...

How to write / copy a text file from a server into client machine's root(c:\).
I tried using fso but the file is created/copied in the server machine itself.

That means the work should be done without user's knowledge.

like i said before: you can't. the webserver doesn't even know who or what the client machine is. the only way you can transfer files to the client machine is via active download. the client *has* to request the file, the server cannot just send it.

Imagine surfing to a website, and without your knowledge they could place a file on your hard-drive (*). I think you can see why this is not permitted.
(*) There have been security flaws in IE that allow exactly this, but they are usually shut by the next security patch.

First:
When I use a router with internal IPs and I use a high anonimity HTTP proxy directly in the browser, the JavaScript see my real IP, it doesn`t see the Local IP, when I use a socksifier with a socks proxy in it like SocksCap and I socksifity the Browser through SocksCap, the JavaScript see as Local IP the internal IP adress of the computer (router ip adress) also Java can`t give to the server the truly real ip ! Why is this difference ? also with HTTP proxy directly in IExplorer, Java see the truly real ip alltrough I use a router, and Why with a socksifier the result is the best also...Java is not capable to see the truly real ip ?

I have a problemm also when I use a anonimity HTTP proxy in the Internet explorer but I have Java enabled, the Java script test see my real IP directly from the network card settings, I can`t change the card ip because...the net doesn`t work then, I know that with a router can I use a internal IP and so Java see only this IP as Local IP but I wish that I don`t use the router also I want a program which can spoof the JavaScript results also....for example The Java must give to the test server a fake real ip as truly network card ip (Local IP). I wish put in the program the spoofed ip for example...1.1.1.1 and the JavaScript give to the server "Real IP: 1.1.1.1 (Local IP)" Can someone help me ?

The Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) are a set of classes which wrap the native Windows API and supposedly make it simpler to program. Support for MFC ended with Visual C++ 6, though there is a huge amount of existing software out there using it.
Since this is a web forum, and your previous post mentioned a web project, I assume that you're trying to create a web application. In that case, I'd highly recommend that you not waste your time on MFC, but move directly into C# or C++ development using Visual Studio .Net 2003. VS.Net 2003 and the CLR make it wonderfully easy to create web-based applications. If for some reason you're constrained to using MFC, check out the excellent collection of articles here at Code Project to help you get started. You might also spend some time at msdn.microsoft.com [^], but Microsoft has been deleting content related to MFC faster than I can click a link.

Well, it is difficult to answer such a question without knowing more specifics. However, I will try. If you are running Microsoft Windows, I recommend that you get a copy of Visual Studio.NET and then read through a tutorial on creating web applications that connect to a database to create dynamic web pages.
If you could provide more information, such as your development machine's operating system and your webserver's operating system, we could give you better answers.

Yes, I recommend Visual Studio.NET as the tool to use to build your library web application project. I find Visual Studio.NET to be a good tool for software development.
You might also be interested the free and open source development tool SharpDevelop. It can use .NET as well, though it is not as powerful a tool as VS.NET.
It would help me to help you if you could answer the following questions:
Do you already know how to program software applications?
What programming languages do you know?
Have you developed any web applications?
Have you worked with databases?
When you say you want to develop a library application, do you mean a media library consisting of books, magazines, CDs, etc?

at me. but i have skills in HTML,CSS.
the programming language that i programmed with are:
visual basic 6 (i am very good in)
delphi5 (to some extent)
and i am very good in oracle8i

Great, this is the information I needed to help you!
I recommend strongly that you get a copy of Visual Studio.NET and learn about VB.NET and ASP.NET. Since you are already experienced with VB6, you will find this to be not only easy but a great source of pleasure.
Next, you will need to learn a bit about ASP.NET for web application programming, but again this will be straight forward.
ADO.NET is used to connect to databases, but it is so easy you won't need to know much about it.
I also recommend strongly that you purchase a book about using VB.NET and ASP.NET to create web applications. There are many out there. I recommend: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/progaspdotnet2/
Finally, there are _many_ websites on the WWW that cover these topics. Use Google and look for them.

I have successfully implemented a PNG image with modest drop shadow on top of a page background showing a gradient from kelly blue to a sunset-like purple
The page background "bg.gif" is implemented using CSS:
body{background-image:url("bg.jpg")}
The PNG image on top of background is implemented through:
img { behavior: url("pngbehavior.htc");}
and the HTML as:
<img src="Type-InternetExplorer.png" alt="" height="90" width="733" border="0">
This scheme works very nicely. But, of course, we all want to go one step further, right?

Now I want to implement navigation using CSS and lists, with the list background image showing, of course, another PNG image with drop shadow. Here is where things go messy with IE 6. The navigation background image is a button created in photoshop and coded in CSS as:
#layer2 a:link, #layer2 a:active, #layer2 a:visited {background-color:transparent; background-image:url("Button-InternetExplorer.png"); text-align:center; width:120px; height:41px}
Of course, I have set the list elements to <a href="#">xxxx</a>. The net result is that "Button-InternetExplorer.png" displays in its proper position, but the PNG transparency is gone because there's no reference to
img {behavior: url("pngbehavior.htc")}
How can this be accomplished? Or is this an inscrutable which meets the definition "End of the line for you, buddy. Fill out the petition to Microsoft"?
The ultimate goal is to do this so that users with IE 5+ with scripting turned off in a secure network, can experience the same as in Netscape and Firefox.
Advice would be appreciated.

If your goal is to have this working with scripting turned off, then you really only have one option. Actually, since the whole trick of making PNGs display correctly on IE depends on an ActiveX behavior, i'm suspicious that if you had a machine that was really locked down, there'd be no way of making it work, period. But for everything short of that, you should be able to do the following:

We're using two IE-specific "features" here, the first to disable the regular background image on IE (using the expression() function), and the other to display the alpha-blended png (using the filter: attribute). This way, the image is displayed correctly on other PNG-friendly browsers, while still working in IE.

Hi guys. I have a simple question. I'm streaming one file from one host to another, for various reasons. I have, say, a .rar file on one host, and the download link is on another. Let's call the place where the fle is host A, and where the lin kto the file is host B.
Im doing this using the following code, on host A:

Now i'm curious as to whether or not this counts as bandwidth for host A, as well as for host B. I assume it's like adding the google logo to my website, it uses google's bandwidth, not mine. However, in the download window, it says "Downloading file from Host A." But, that could just be because it's streaming it.
So... does anyone know?
