I have one PC run win2k server and 2 PC run win2k pro. I note that if I just both 2 PC and log on to server with any roaming profile, I found that the time with the server and the time with the client is the same (all of the computer are having the same time zone). I did not write any script to synchronize the time between the client and server. I used to hear from my teacher that if I want to make the time between client/server are the same I have to write script using the command NET TIME. But this case I don't know write any script. Just create the roaming profile and log to it the time is the same between client/server. Does any people know what is the problem??? A thousand mile of journey, begin with the first step. YOU SHOULD NOT USE Net Time FOR THIS. Net Time was used on NT4 domains for time synchronization to clients. On a Win2k domain (Active Directory) the Windows Time Service maintains time synchronization on all clients and servers on the network. Win2k (server and workstation) and winNT work with UTC time internaly (the same as GMT I believe). So the UTC time is synchronized. NET TIME is handy on a Win2K server, though, for synchronizing the server to an outside time reference, such as NIST. Because I want to learn UNIX I have download FreeBSD LiveCD[^]. After I burn it to the CD and boot it from the CDROM, it did not display any graphic like Morphix Linux LiveCD. It display the command prompt for login name and password. I don't know what is the user name or any password that I could log on to it. Can any one help me?? Enjoy Note that the documentation is aweful at this point, feel free to contribute better documents. P.S. I word my question this way because unix is not idiot friendly. You will need to learn where to find answers to your questions. I found the answer in less than 5 minutes, you should be able to do the same. Enjoy Yes, that right. I already found this statement at the bottom of the project documentation. But I don't know what is passwordles. I try to type root as the login name and passwordles as the password but the system prompt me that incorrect login. I don't know what to do. Do you have any idea to explain this more clearly? Try a different support area, most people on code project use windows. I'm not sure which is best though. Make sure you specify exactly what you are typing, the exact version of the CD you are using, where you got it from. I want to learn UNIX at home for personal use and education purpose only. I want to know how it working windows and linux environment. 2. Because I have less PC and less of hard disk space, most of operating system that I use is LIVECD (to save disk space). Except windows and linux redhat that I have to install on hard disk. For Suse linux (both KDE and Genome), Knoppix and Mandrake, I use LiveCD. Because I just need it when I need to study... This file is reside on %systemroot%\repair and the file name is sam. If you want to know the password, I think you should use thrid party software to get the password from the user account in sam. As far as I know, winxp also have the feature for your to store you backup of your password in the diskette. Otherwise, you can't. Numerous hacks for revealing Windows passwords have appeared on the Internet over the years, decrypting passwords for all of the Windows 9x series and WinNT, but I've yet to see one that claims to be able to retrieve a Win2K or XP password. Best way to crack SAM is to use cryptoanalysis (e.g RainbowCrack), and if password is simple, use bruteforce attack. If you need help in cracking SAM file, I can crack the file for you. Look at this[^], it is a freeware Linux based bootdisk that will change an unknown password for an NT/2000/XP install. Been a while since I have used it but when I did it was only good at setting a password to blank. I always killed the Administrator account and then could change any other account to what I want. Then there is commercial software like Winternals ERD Commander that are able to change passwords to accounts that they show you in a list. There are a lot of products to reset it, but none I've found to learn what the existing password is. Sometimes you don't want to leave tracks - like the time I modified my boss' account to report to his boss every time he spent work hours playing video games - and changing the password is rather obvious.
