With new experiences comes learning. My TILD is that objects in MySQL may be case-sensitive, depending on environment and system options...in my case, they were which was puzzling at first.
As for the option of getting off of Joomla, that is up to the owner/friend. We're just trying to help out and that's it. She's not a client I would want anyway.

Case-sensitive? That sounds like a cruel joke - like, you could have a "CodeProject" table and a "COdePRoject" table?

You can do that in SQL Server too you know...
I worked at a place that hired a new CIO. He fired all the current management and brought in his own team and contracted out the developer jobs. I guess he figured we were all incompetent. The contractors (his friends) installed a MS SQL instance that was case sensitive - and had different tables where only the capitalization distinguished them! About a year later and they were gone, and the work they did was incomplete. Us 'incompetent' developers that stuck it through cleaned up the mess and got everything working again in a few months. About a year after that, the CEO sold the company and the new owners decided to outsource the whole thing.
I was put out of my misery and found a job that has been a better fit for me - growing technically, higher pay, more vacation, less hours, more flexibility, better managers... live and learn. I'm not going to sit around and stagnate in a failing business again...

MySQL doesn't fully support SQL92, but the differences are so subtle it's only in very complex queries you would strike any issues.
SQL server (and with the help of asp) tends to throw people at it's own non standard extensions if not careful (MySQL not so much 'throws people at it's non standards' - but it still happens.)
It's not only MySQL's fault that SQL server people have issues with it - both are to blame. (Vice versa too.)
If you don't believe that, have a go at Firebird, that'll slap the 'I know proper SQL' right out of you.

If only there were better code Structure to Joomla.
Alas, PHP. It's quite powerful but most people use it in such a scripty way.
You can't find nothing in Joomla because there just isn't very nice structure to the code.
Joomla is a trap. It looks so nice from the outside. So nice.
Then <SNAP> you're manager implemented the blog and it looks so easy. Be a good little dev won't you and fix this little thing.

Quite accurate. There is a very steep learning curve to Joomla which is glossed over in all the flashy demos. The code thing is a nightmare and I still have not managed to get a development environment working. The features are pretty good and once the site is up and running it is very easy to support as long as any extra extensions employed stay current.

I have had trouble with all the blog engines that use PHP.
My WordPress site got hacked even though I kept it updated so I destroyed it.
I tried Joomla for about 3 days but found it difficult to find the files to edit to set my own logo and other custom items easily. Had the same challenges with Drupal.
I moved to dotNetBlogEngine (DNBE) and I'm extremely happy with it though it doesn't seem to be documented super well and it's based on older versions of an MVC pattern. However, once I installed it it was extremely easy to customize and add blog entries from anywhere.

This bot watches Donald Trump's tweets and waits for him to mention any publicly traded companies. When he does, it uses sentiment analysis to determine whether his opinions are positive or negative toward those companies. The bot then automatically executes trades on the relevant stocks according to the expected market reaction. It also tweets out a summary of its findings in real time at @Trump2Cash.

I love the way that Max is using Trump's BS to raise money for good causes and one has to wonder, if enough people were on board, whether reversing the direction of trade could actually reverse the Trump factor in a huge way. Company X roll over to Trump and their shares plummet. Company Y stands up to him and their shares soar. That, in itself, sounds like a great thing - ethical investment forcing companies to behave in a civilized manner - but the more that you think about it, the scarier it gets. Bots could be used to drive all kinds of agendas in a similar way and an awful lot of people don't have very nice agendas.
Slogans aren't solutions.

Initially, people assumed that a Trump tweet would bring a business down. But in the last couple of weeks, any negative tweet he's made seems to have had a positive effect on the businesses. Although, it could swing the other way too I guess.

Amen to that. I jumped on board with the Robinhood[^] crowd around May last year and decided to give stock trading a go. While I may be up, I would be easier to calculate the most probable path of a photon originating from the core of the Sun then figure out what causes market moves.

The Dreaded Bimbo Factor
One thing I couldn't stand about the stock market is what I call the Bimbo Factor. Let me explain with a hypothetical situation...
The CEO of a company, whose stock price is $100, has a wife and family. He also has a mistress in every major city that he frequently visits. Everything is going ok until one of his mistresses decides to threaten to expose their relationship to his family. In a panic, he siphons one million dollars from the company's retirement fund to pay off this mistress with a huge diamond ring. Word gets around to the other mistresses and they begin to make the same kinds of threats. In a short while, the company's retirement fund is completely depleted. Two years later the lack of money in the retirement fund is noticed and this triggers an investigation. When the reason for the investigation becomes public knowledge, the stock plummets to $1 per share.
Basically, the Bimbo Factor states that one random act from a single "Bimbo" can bring a multi-billion dollar corporation or even an industry to near collapse.
However, not all hope is lost. Given the right Bimbo Factor opportunity, you might be able to buy a $100 stock for $2. And for some reason if the company recovers from the situation, you could potentially have a 5000% return on your investment. Generally speaking, though, that does not happen.
You can't win.
You can't break even.
You can't quit.

Not at all the point I'm making. Real life example:
I had oil options contracts during the Iran/Iraq war. An Iraqi naval ship fired on an oil tanker coming from Iran. So what do you think happened?
The price of the oil contract (and underlying futures, of course) dropped like stones!
The reason given - the day after the drop, of course - is that investors now feel that now the large military powers will get involved and protect the oil traffic, thereby making things safer.
Now THAT is bullshit!

Ignoring the issue that President's role is to promote macro-economic benefits instead of spruiking individual companies. Y'know - that little ol' thing called the law (which I understand he's actually not subject to in this case: it's only for government employees. But still  )

Up until this point the thread has been exceptionally polite and apolitical.
I prefer to leave this and demonstrate we can actually be grown up and not angry. The thread hasn't blown up (apart from - I hate to say - your series of messages) so let's give everyone the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming the worst.
If it goes bad then it gets locked down.
