Man in the High Castle is an odd one bits are from the book which did a lot of world building I think Philip K D*ck might have been planning a series of books but Acid got in the way  . I have started to watch it due to flat mate having a Prime subscription for quick books, let mine lapse when they upped the price. He also has Netflicks which he forgot about (he got for his ex, only remembered when a bill came in which he checked) I found you can access all the shows on Netflicks even if they aren't advertised in your country by entering the name Netflicks gives them, there are better instructions on the Tested web site have a search around for it: www.tested.com 
I also think the 'cutting cord' thing is primarily a US thing as here in the UK we get a decent(ish) selection via digital broadcast. I wonder how the rest of Europe is?

Well the Plus hour channels are generally how I see stuff...never on time for anything

You have to be careful watching those. We have been caught out a couple of times watching +1 late at night. Come midnight it just switches off without warning, regardless of whether the program has finished.

I thought the book was awful bit loved the series.
I do agree that UK TV provider choice/quality is far better; either SKY, SKY FreeSat, FreeSat or FreeView which are all bloody good and all those channels for free!!!

10 years ago newspapers were still important, now they are only an environmental disaster.
My kids don't know what a cassette tape is.
I'm betting my grand kids (not yet, little while to go) won't have any clue what cable/broadcast TV is [was]. (Probably movie theaters too - for sure the g-g-kids.)

Happened to me a few years ago. Frightening, in a way as you sort of change your class in society.
Single->Married->Parent are all the same 'group' pretty much. There are differences, but then suddenly your group changes to "Grandparent" - and it's altogether different.
However - after the first one, the damage is done - and thus, you may as well collect as many grandchildren as you can.*

I like other peoples babies too, because when they leak, stink or make too much noise you can simply give them back.
But another scary thought: these days see a lot of grandparents becoming 24/5..24/7 baby sitters (if not housing & housekeeping providers as well), already investigating retirement options a loooong way away.

I cut the cable TV cord 10 years ago. I do have Internet and use it for my entertainment. For movies, I tend to use putlocker and sports that isn't on network TV that I'm interested in I use stream2watch.
When I first cut the cord my goal was to stay out of debt and then invest. Even though I can afford cable today, I do not want it. I am much happier without it.

This is a great reminder that I need to get a handle on my out of control DirecTV account. My wife set it up over 5 years ago, and the first couple of years weren't bad cost wise, however, when I last checked, my bill was up to USD $250 for a month! 
My wife is a sports fan, so Sunday Ticket is a big part. Also, though we rarely watch movies, we have all the movie channels...the logic is that the kids watch them when they're home, which is a total of about 5-6 days a year anymore. Also, we had to have additional boxes in the pool room, the sun room, and an upstairs bedroom...combined these may see zero usage for months at a time.  There's got to be a better/cheaper way! Good luck with your viewing!

Here in the states, ISPs are making it more and more difficult to cut the cord. In fact, to save money, the wife actually had to sign us up for one of those stupid combo deals for TV and internet, after they kept jacking up the price of just having internet. I don't really understand how that one works...
They're also starting to implement data caps in more and more markets, and we're getting one come the first. If any of the alternatives to Comcast in my area were faster than simply shouting 'one-zero-zero-one' over tin-cans-and-string and hand transcribing the bits, I'd have switched a long time ago.
What gets me about the situation, is that Comcast's TV and internet services are pushed over the exact same wire, using the exact same bandwidth. Yet, if I pay for TV, and watch TV over their cable service, those bits don't count against my data cap. But if I watch TV over the internet, say with Hulu or NetFlix, that does count against my cap...
What that amounts to, is traffic being treated preferentially based on source, which is against FCC regulations. How they keep getting away with this practice (claims of bribery and corporate lobbying aside) is beyond me.

Free to air astra 2 where I live, and that means BBC, and all the ITVs, Channel4s, 5s and a few odds and sods.
Best TV on the planet, absoloutely free.
