Hi All,
Looked at the lounge and Bob had flowers & a hat which caused cofusion, but heard or saw on TV/Net it's mothers day in the States. Do McDonalds still do the take your Mom to McD's on Mothers day and get a free breakfast ( I am pretty sure they did in the 80's)?...(holiday memories)

So because the roman empire didn't took in a few hundred of thousands of Germans, they had to force themselves in and by that caused the fall of the roman empire...But wouldn't the empire fall if they would let such big group of Germans into the inner circles of the empire anyway?

So that's the reason author went back so far - she was thinking people already forgot the history of the roman empire, so will believe anything...

There are many, many theories about the cause of the collapse of the Roman Empire and they are all wrong, mainly because it could reasonably be argued that it never actually collapsed at all, or if it did, not when everybody thinks it did and not as a single extinction event.

The article dismissed the defeat at the Battle of Adrianople was not "because [Valens] grossly underestimated his adversary’s belligerence." Uh, yeah he did. Massively. His entire battle plan was a total fail and that of the Fritigern, and the Goths, simply brilliant.
Yes, the battle was precipitated by corruption by Roman officials, but had the Romans not been defeated, the long term outcome would have been different.
Plus, as pointed out, the Roman empire never did really fall. The western empire became the Catholic Church, the eastern empire became the Eastern Orthodox Church.

I had a call this afternoon, one which has led to me having to be inside working and not outside enjoying the sunshine and/or epic quantities of G&T.

You need to set your spam filter on incoming calls a bit higher and relate it's aggressiveness to the niceness of the weather.

I make it a point not to answer work calls on the weekend, unless I've been warned ahead of time and agree.

That's all well and good if you actually have enough work. Having nothing much for a year means I have to take what I can.

Laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, yard maintenance (1 acre), cleaning gutters, and annual preventative maintenance at the rental property is on my TODO list today.  I'd rather be writing code! C'mon Monday!

Since I have been self employed (poor as dirt), I have become fond of Mondays and fearful of Friday as Monday gives me new hope for incoming (revenue) and by Friday I'm like "crap I need to get this all done today now and there's no tomorrow". Unless I want to work on Saturday, and I don't.
