There are many websites offering mp3 format downloads for much cheaper than iTunes. The one I use charges around 10 cents (US) per track on average. I generally download entire albums instead of single tracks so a typical album costs me only $1.20 or so. Edit: Just checked and the prices went up to between $2-$3 per album and 40 cents for a normal length track.

Since you asked, I use this one. [^] Edit: I haven't used it in couple of years, and it seems they have gone up on their prices...between $2.00 and $3.00 (US) per album. or around 40 cents for a normal length track.

I only use Amazon Prime for music purchases. I do not use iTunes. I use Amazon Prime and Netflix for movies. This setup meets all my needs.

Go with anyone who offer DRM-Free format. Alternative ways:
0) I heard Bandcamp[^] is good & you're gonna support the artists directly.
1) Buy it from website of artist. Ex: Silbermedia[^]*
2) You could pre-order music from your favorite artists / independents through Kickstarter[^]. Crowdfunding campaigns come with some benefits like extras, name acknowledgements in their sites, stretch goals, etc.,
*I bought mini-comics couple of times from that guy so it's just a suggestion to support him. There you could find some FREE music albums

Amazon prime comes with streaming where you can also create offline playlists I believe. I think their catalogue is a bit limited but as you have prime anyway might be somewhere to start?

Amusing but not sure what the fuss is all about. Univeristy students the world over appear to need to indulge in childish and questionable behavior all the time, this is simply another manifestation of that even if the alleged act was, ahem, a little more dumb than most.
