I use Epsons - have for ages. Mostly because they are very economic to run, since the printhead is not part of the cartridge (unlike HP) and they use separate cartridges for each colour - so if Cyan runs out, you don't have to chuck away Magenta and Yellow as well. They also have a fairly straight paper path which means they can take thicker media (I get 260gsm photo card through easily) and don't peel labels off internally either...
Currently I have a BX305FW which includes scanner with sheet feed and a fax (not that I use that part) and has wireless built in. The exact model is probably well out of date, but they will do an alternative for around £100.

Although I'm a Canon fan for most things I steer away from Canon for printing. I have an HP printer/scanner/copier (with wifi stuff) and am very happy it. The previous HP I owned was also very good. The 2 Canon printers I had before were nothing but trouble. Our current HP was close to 100€ so nothing majorly expensive.

After having issues with ink printers (not working anymore if not used for 2-3 months in a row etc.) I resorted to a laser printer (from Samsung). Got one with scanner, wifi etc. all inclusive. The color quality may not be as good as with ink printers, however, I also don't have to wait for the paper to dry up And it's a hell lot faster than those ink printers.
Didn't regret it yet. They might be a bit (yeah, maybe a lot) more expensive than inkjets, but they are quite affordable compared to a few years past.

I agree with Griff; Epson do really good quality at a very low price. Our Epson DX3800 (probably superceded now) cost £50 eight years ago and is still going strong. You can buy cheaper ink cartridges at any of the UK online outlets (I use printerinks.com). It's not wifi but for only occasional printing that is far from being a necessity.

Brother Lasers are very good.
You can pick up the printer for a reasonable price.
The problem most people see is the toner looks expensive, but given the amount of prints available from it then it works out about the same as per an ink cartridge.
The advantage is that it doesn't dry out like ink.

Samsung are a good make too and this one is on special offer at PC World.

If you're willing to spend little bit more, buy any non-Brother colour laser. This puts you just outside of the "disposable" printer market. The printer costs more, but an HP is printer for life and toner is cheaper.

Herself managed to break her phone just before Crimble - and since she only uses it once in a blue moon for emergencies (and it's normally flat by then anyway) I got her a £10 cheapy clamshell from ASDA on TMobile PAYG.
It's a tiny Samsung, has a four week battery life, won't make calls when she stuffs it in her pocket and receives calls fine.
But...try as I might, I can't seem to get any money onto it. I've found three different ways via t'interwebs, all of which fail at the beginning or just after entering my card info, tried 150 on the phone which failed after the card info with a "system down" message, tried two different cash points (and can't even find the instructions to top up there) and the only way left is to shell out money in advance on a top up in the supermarket which may work (or not, I haven't tried yet) or return it for a refund...
It is possible that I have become too unskilled to be able to give people money...
So - anyone on it? How do you top the stupid object up? Or have TMobile gone bust and I hadn't noticed?

I'm on T-Mobile in Hungary, I just go into any store with the payment logo and jobs done. I have seen similar here in Co-op amongst others.

Thanks - I'll give it a try later then! I'm just reluctant to spend money if the result isn't going to work - I'd rather get Herself another phone and give this back for a refund!

It's not clear from your post but I take it you have a new simcard too.
Generally simcards need activating before you can charge up the account with dosh.
So if it is a new simcard and you have not activated it you will need to search for the activation section online - I think you will need the IMEI number from the phone(should be on the phone somewhere in the battery compartment or accessible from a key combination on the handset) as well as the sim card serial number to activate the sim.

The sim came with the phone which is network locked to TMobile (or I wouldn't be playing with it)
