I had a similar experience a few months ago. A person claiming to be from abroad texted me. The usual introduction of these scammers was that they will text as if they are your relative and will tell you that they have sent some package for us. Like you, I decided to play along. After a few texting, she was offering me a prepaid card business. The system was that I'll buy the cards and will text the PIN to her. At that time, she was asking me to buy 10 cards, each amounting to Php500($11.5).
After one hour, another text came from her asking if I already texted the PIN of the cards. I told her yes, and said I will text it again in case she hasn't received the message.
After a few exchanges of messages, I think she got tired and found out that there was really no text message containing the PIN numbers of the prepaid cards.

I got first place in the no-gi, and third place in the gi in the chicago NAGA last weekend.
I think I would have gotten first or second in the gi, but there was a questionable call by a ref. I grunted when sweeping the guy, and the ref stopped the match. He said grunting is "verbally tapping", and if I were in a submission hold he couldn't tell if that was asking for help...... but I wasn't in a submission hold.
Either way, was a great event. I had lots of fun. I need to diet though, been getting too big from weight lifting. I'd like to be lighter for competitions.

Probably most folks don't know what NAGA is, so I'll definitely say CONGRATS!
I've been slammed before, and grunted, and the match didn't stop. I've been in a choke hold and grunted, and the match didn't stop. I have verbally tapped once, and the ref was very slow to stop the match.
So, I'm with you... that was a questionable call.
