I know what you mean - it's rare for a cover to be better.
Patti Smith did it (IMHO) with Smells Like Teen Spirit[^], and I prefer the Jimmy Scott version of Nothing Compares 2 U[^] but it's damn rare, and you need a good voice to carry it.
Mind you, I like Ciara's version of Paint It, Black[^] so what do I know?

Another cover that, in my opinion, is better than the original in a different way: Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence [Official Music Video] - YouTube. And that is high praise, because the original is perfect. And I'm not a metalhead.

It started out as Song of the Week, but song turned out to be too specific (and some members would even point out my "song" couldn't even be categorized as "music").

Followed OGs wonderful suggestion to find this playlist: London Grammar Top Tracks. Hadn't paid them any attention till now, and she has a nice voice that doesn't distract from programming too much. Otherwise, usually listen to something from my own playlist[^] which I'm always adding to. It has a little higher energy.
