I am just writing some code in a script language that ressembles C in a third-party tool. Both new to me.
And I needed to convert hex chars in decimal (for instance "0F" -> 15), and there is of course no built-in function for that.
So I have made ... an ASCII-index based look-up table. Bad, bad me. 
But it works !

Nothing wrong with that.. you'd get more points for doing math with ASCII chars

In another part, I convert one value from decimal to a string of hex chars, and make a strcomp to check a match with another hex string. 
Should I already talk about that goto ?

There's nothing wrong with using a goto to exit a block. I do it all the time. I just happen to spell it break, continue and return.

Too simple. Some kind of case structure of if/then/elseif makes for longer and harder maintainable code...
Because that's the goal, right? To make yourself indispensable???

Good point, but civilian hell (also known as capitalist hell) are really bad. If you have a choice, then take military hell or communist hell.

There are not enough female personages of the correct persuasion for all men to marry and those men that do marry are doing so much later in life than they used to. I reckon there's a more than plentiful demographic in those who have not yet got wives and those who used to have them but don't any longer - especially the latter as they know what they're missing!
