Cats live by a complicated schedule. For every time of day (or night) they go to a specific place for a particular purpose. They hate any obstacles that keep them from being on schedule.

Premise: my home has a inner garden surrounded by a fence, surrounded by a plot which is itself fenced.
My cat is able to wait several ours on the gate between the inner and outer garden (a gate that he easily jumps over due to purposefully placed obstacles) even when he knows there's noone at home... after then he jumps off and goes to the other side. Lazy son of a kitten.

My cat is not allowed outside yet.
I've had her for five weeks now.
Going on a vacation tomorrow and when I get back I'll let her out and see how that goes.
For now she does the exact opposite.
She waits the door until I let her out.
Sometimes she taps the glass and starts meowing.
Cute and sad really, but I've got to keep her inside for a few weeks before letting her out...
