If you are just reading values out of the app.config and doing zero business validation of them then I suspect you are going to wake up to a surprise someday.
never, validation is needed for everything. but isn't it nice to know your data is an integer when you define it as such and don't need to convert from a string?
Second have you ever created a ill-formed app.config? What happens to your application when you do that?
many many times, more so in 2010. obviously the app will not work, or work properly. backups are a wonderful thing when you remember to use them
You ever work with a custom part of a app.config? "Easy" is not the term I would use to apply to it.
Actually that is how I started with them, honestly not all that bad, a pain yes.
maybe I should also add my question is not fully explained, the powers that be, want to store all data in ini files related to any customization or settings by control, by form, by app, by user, by group instead of one app.config

Not sure what sort of app(s) you are working on but I absolutely would not want to store user customizations in the app.config.

As if! We're staying with friends in the 18th arrondissement. Yesterday we did the loo, sorry Louvre, and say the miserable bitch a.k.a. Moaning Liz. Today was the much better, in my bloody good opinion, Musee d'Orsey with more impressionists than a Mike Yarwood tribute night. The poor minions, and Mrs Wife, were slightly put out by the fact that most of the paintings I could at least name the artist, without looking, and the period. I enjoyed my day. Now I am catching up on e-mail and wine consumption; not necessarily in that order.

I have been a (Green Bay) Packers fan for over 40 years.
In response to an egregious incident that occurred in yesterday's game, I posted this in the "comments" section of packers.com:
"DonkeyKong Sioux and Dumbhick Crayola are the two dirtiest players in the NFL. Those two cats make whoever is the 3rd dirtiest player look like Anne of Green Gables."
This was in reference to Ndamokung Suh and Dominic Raiola, who have both been suspended for deliberately stomping on opposing players' ankles (Raiola for an incident against the Bears last week, and Suh for the aforementioned incident yesterday).
I subsequently attempted to post another comment on packers.com (this morning), and was advised that it could not be posted, because I had been blocked!
I admit that what I had written was somewhat caustic, but block-worthy? Why?
