Github is a common place for it.
But I also like to have some offline copy. Like a CD, stick or external harddrive.

You got at least two options...
1. Seriously, for $10 a month you can host your own at Dreamhost[^] or just about most web hosts.
2. Or, to be even more simple, get a pro Dropbox account for $10 a month. Have your local repo sit anywhere you want and push it to the master repo which sits in your drop box folder. 1TB of space goes a long way, especially if you don't have that many images.
Otherwise, go open source, that's when things become free.

If you don't have any images and not too much code, the free account[^] is 2GB. That goes a long way with a compressed source repo.

I use bitbucket for about 30 small private repos and haven't had any problems.

I have a windows 2003 server at my computer repair shop that is on a static ip and domain.
I am running VisualSVN (free) server on it and VisualSVN (free) Visual Studio client.
I commit to that. and the server is backed up each night.
Works like a charm with NO RECURRING CLOUD CHARGE. Just the way I like it.

I've never tried it but could you not book a Linux VPS and install GIT[^] on it?
...it at least would be pretty obscure and hard to find unlike those public Git repositories which are basically social networks.
If you had decent bandwidth where you're at you could just install on your own box or run it in a Hyper-V VM...

I have just started using GitLab and all is good for me at the moment. It's ads-free and and you can have virtually unlimited public and private repos. It only supports Git for version control, though.
Whether I think I can, or think I can't, I am always bloody right!

I might be a bit bias as I am moving to Sydney to start work at Atlassian (The guys behind bitbucket) in a couple of months, but I keep several projects on bitbucket and have never had a problem.

I use Assembla[^], it features 1 Project, Unlimited Users, Unlimited Repositories and 500mb Storage for free.
Fits my needs as I can make subfolders if I want to host more than one project. It only gets in the way if you want to manage teams that differ between projects.

I really like BitBucket.org. Very easy to use, especially if you also use their Git client, SourceTree.

Yesterday I bought new laptop which comes with Windows 8.1 64 bit edition. I'm able to install, run both 32 & 64 bit softwares(Ex. VLC). Which is recommended? 32 or 64 bits? Reason(s) please.
In my old laptop, already I have a big collection(around 5-7GBs) of 32 bit softwares. So if 64 bit is recommended, I'll download 64 bit versions of those softwares. Else, I'll use the same collection from my old laptop.
Based on my search I got few results on 64 bit like Memory allocation(not limited to 4GB), Don't support old drivers(32 bits), etc.,
Your opinions please. Thank you.
This is the first time I use 64 bit OS for my personal use.
