Yes.
Lots of things. For example:
Having a stranger stab you in the eye with a stick?Someone farting in a lift? And then leaving?A work colleague who only smokes OPs, but gets through a pack a day? This message is manufactured from fully recyclable noughts and ones. To recycle this message, please separate into two tidy piles, and take them to your nearest local recycling centre.
Please note that in some areas noughts are always replaced with zeros by law, and many facilities cannot recycle zeroes - in this case, please bury them in your back garden and water frequently.

Why does this hurt more than somebody you know doing it.
OriginalGriff wrote: Someone farting in a lift? And then leaving?
That's not annoying that's wrong on so many levels.

Can't work out what an OP is?

Because you aren't expecting it, and the stranger will generally pretend it didn't happen and continue down the street waving his umbrella as if nothing occurred?
OPs == "Other Peoples"
Someone who never buys cigarettes, but continually bums them off everyone else. I've worked with a few, when I still smoked.

Undoubtedly.
What's really elephanting annoying however is my companies continuing efforts to lock down the entire internet using websense.
ebay has gone today.
I cannot be long before CP goes the way of all other message boards and forums.

I'm still going to use the site, just now it's going to be on my phone using 3G and take a lot longer.
Plus I've already lost time bitching about it.
The world has changed, you no longer have go to work do work stuff, leave work do none work stuff. Lines are blurred, you can do work stuff and none work stuff at work and not at work, indeed it is expected, so why is the other way round not acceptable?
Does it cost the company anything in monetary terms or lost productivity, or do people simply adapt to fit the occasional none work thing into their working day?
If I want to waste time I shall do it regardless of what websites are open or closed, it gets closed down enough then when I'm bored or want a break then I'll waste time with by talking to my colleagues instead, then I'm stopping several people working.
All this treat your employees like an untrustworthy child bullshit is totally counter productive.
All in my humble opinion, of course.

Reminds me of a story I read this morning where they are going to introduce more fencing to Railways in order 'to prevent suicides'. I thought they're not preventing suicides they're just making people do it in a different way.

True, but there are always that small percentage who do sweet FA every day, whether they have access to the internet or not. Years ago I had a colleague who came into the office in the morning, spent 5 or 10 minutes rooting around in his desk, picked up a folder full of papers and walked out. Round about 5 or 5:30 he returned, put the folder back in his desk and went home. No one knew what he did all day.

My point exactly.
You can make the majority's time at work harder to try to get something extra out of the minority, but that minority will just do something else instead.

Yes, there is.
a) A site that specifies in a popup that it doesn't work without cookies.
b) Even worse: A site with a popup (disabling the main window/frame) that you can close, but on closing reloads the site, leading to the exact same popup if coockies are disabled.
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

How about a popup that lets you choose whether to enable cookies or not, and only after you choose "no" informs you that it will just refuse to work then.

Yes a site (BestBuy) that sends you an email saying they've upgraded their rewards site and you can't sign in because it claims you don't have an account. WTF?

My mobile phone provider has some sort of 'best plan' thing where every six months they provide you with some alternative plans that could be better for you. So they send me a text message telling me my best plan review has been done with a link to their website. I log into the website to be presented with a message saying "you are not eligible for a best plan review".
