This is a cross-post of our announcement in our site blog[^], but it's worth repeating the announcement of our 2022 CodeProject MVPs.
It's these developers who make this community what it is and each year I am again humbled at the generosity, the depth of talent, and the endless patience in helping those new to the craft, or just new to a particular technology.
A heartfelt thanks go to our new batch of CodeProject MVPs for 2022. The Most Valuable Experts for helping answer questions, and our Most Valuable Authors for their incredible articles.
Congratulations, and thank you, to the following:

Congratulations !
With deep appreciation for all of you, and, deepest appreciation for OriginalGriff, Richard Deeming, and Richard MacCutchan, who, imho, set the standards on QA forums for patience with new, confused, seekers-after-whatever, and, for the highest quality technical responses/solutions explained articulately.
A privilege to be among you, to learn from you !

I think he is.
Here’s the truth about the crypto miner that comes with Norton Antivirus

OMG. That should be a felony offense.

It's probably a lesser offence than preinstalling Norton on a computer you sell ...

I was going to say "Define tool", but it seems that you beat me to it.
EDIT: Now that Windows Defender is as good as these anti-virus programs, they're getting desperate and have become crapware, or bloatware at best.

Now that Windows Defender is as good as these anti-virus programs
Link /is/ on msn. Just saying.

Probably a coincidence. I was going by independent reviews. I previously used Norton and later McAfee, but have only used Windows Defender, without any problems, for a couple of years now.
Not to say that msn.com doesn't have problems. I never use it myself.

For me, it was a Commando[^]
The one in the pictures isn't original, it has earlier reverse code megas rather than the annular discharge ones they came with.
Fitting reverse cones was very common in those days as the "black cap" silencers were very quiet and reduced power. Both of mine had reverse cones and quiet was not even close to an accurate description!

How the freaking hell is someone a tool because of the actions of a company they sold more than thirty years ago? Exactly HOW?

Guilty by association, I guess.
Like John McAfee, as you said, Peter Norton has sold his company decades ago and today's product is just garbage, and he has to forever live with the affiliation.

Ever heard of a pun? Innuendo? Do you say Norton Tools or Norton? Is he being taken "advantage of"? If you look hard enough, you can find misery in anything.

You got it; everyone else did; except one looking for it.

Long gone are the days of Norton being the darling in the hearts and minds of pc vendors offering it as the antivirus on new pcs having given way to (Bad) McAfee Livesafe and (Better) Windows defender. So like other companies swan songs Norton lashes out and does this. Which means they don't care anymore. I don't think they have for the last decade.

Ever since Peter Norton sold his software to Symantec it's gone downhill from a useful suite of tools to a bloated nightmare that consumes system resources for no apparent reason.
At least now there's a reason.
