I finished GTAV DLC "The Contract" - which has been a bugbear for me as it crashed at the end of three missions several times. Got there in the end though. Quite a fun one!
And ... drum roll please ... I'm cooking a fish curry for supper tonight, so I just cut a Cod loin in half - half for Herself, half for me. Cutting by eye, I them weighed the pieces. 134g for the first one, and ... 133g for the second. Nice. That's a small but good triumph, I don't normally estimate it that close!
Probably never get quite that close again, either.

Fish should be eaten raw (or breaded and deep fried).

Yep. Speckled Trout in New Orleans. I have had Cod before, and it was OK, but a little too bland for my tastes. Don't know how it is in a curry.
But that's what makes horse races. You go Griff!.

I was reading that post and thought to myself - there but for the brace of cod go I.

Most kitchen scales are only accurate to within 1 gram or so, so the pieces had identical mass to within the limits of measurement.

I posted about my mostly Presa Canario in that thread.
This morning around 7:45 EST something happened to him. He was fine then he made a noise and vomited. He thrashed about in what I initially thought was his back scratching routine but then I realized it looked like he had lost control of his muscles. He started breathing really hard. I tried calling the vet but they weren't open yet so I thought I'll take him to the emergency animal hospital. He's so big I had to get the neighbor to help me lift him into the backseat of my truck.
Louis is no longer alive. He either died on the way to the vet or he was already dead when we put him in the truck. It had to be an aneurysm, or heart attack. He was 7 years old.
Just needed to share. I'm missing the big idiot.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

My condolences. It is hard to lose a pet especially when it happened suddenly like that.

Condolences, I know how attached one to them one can get.
I've had a couple of good friends I've had to put down for one reason or another and still miss them.

Very sad news. Grizzly is usually right nearby while I'm working. At the start of 2022 I bought a raised desktop to try to improve my health a bit. Now he is even more underfoot since there isn't a chair to block him. Working from home would just feel wrong without him "supervising". I'm sad to hear of your loss of Louis.

The wife and I are proud staff to an elderly dog (15 years old). He's looking pretty rough these days and I fear the day he passes.

Very sorry to hear, they really are members of the family, and being so young...
Our pup who's 12 1/2, was recently diagnosed with liver cancer. It was alot more difficult to process than I thought it could be. She's old, but still my little girl. You have my sympathies.

You have my utmost condolences...so unexpected too!
I have an 8 y/o cocker and already know how much it's going to crush the wife and admittedly myself when he is gone. Until then, we make the most of each day and appreciate the joy he brings.

Sorry to hear that. My condolences too. I know what it is like, I had to bring my 13-year-old Westie, Scoon, the rescue dog to the vet to end his suffering, when he stopped eating and could not walk any more.
I cried all the way home.

I am so sorry for your loss Mark.
I went through the same thing recently with my greyhound Hera. Over a four day period she went from being fine to crying every time she tried to get up or walk. We discovered she had osteosarcoma (bone cancer), and had fractured her shoulder where the cancerous lesions had weakened it. The suddenness of it all gave us no time to come to terms, and it's been rough.

The only issue with keeping pets, they die and we need to deal with that! And the giant dogs do not have a long life span but 7 seems a little early. Thankfully our 2 labs have a decade or so in them.

Hey Mark. So sorry for your loss. Must have been a real shock to have that happen so unexpectedly.
We also lost a dog over the weekend. We had the vet around to put our 14-year-old Working Cocker Spaniel, Cassie, to sleep. She's been sick for a while with chronic pancreatitis.
I miss her so much. They're such a big part of our lives and leave a huge whole when they go.
My thoughts and condolences are with you for the loss of your Louis.

This file formet seems to be becoming more & more popular. Unfortunately, it only shows up as a stupid browser app icon in Windows Explorer, and with no preview, and then it opens up a heavy browser app to view it. Certainly there must be a better way. For me, it needs to reside in the Program Files directory, not in AppData, and automatically (or at least allow the user to do so) sets itself as the defaulr program for SVG files. AND of course, it must be FREE.
