Does it include Sql Management Studio?

SQL Server 2014 Developer edition lets developers build any kind of application on top of SQL Server. It includes all the functionality of Enterprise edition, but is licensed for use as a development and test system, not as a production server. SQL Server Developer is an ideal choice for people who build and test applications. For feature list of every edition (development edition is not listed as it is the same as enterprise): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx#Mgmt_tools[^]

I just looked at that, and it the first time I've seen that used in anger. Maximum database size 524PB.
524E15 bytes per database...
Now, I like to think I've got a bit of disk space here: about 13 or 14TB of HDD lurking around my house.
But that's just 0.0027% of the maximum capacity of SQL server...

Now that for a single instance. You can install up to 50 instances on the same server and using partitioning across different servers you can get a 50*524 PB sized table! Big data or no?

Big indeed.
But in ten years time, that will be the recommended disk space for a Visual Studio 2024 installation...

Would the "Developer" edition do?
Yes, Developer edition comes with Managment studio, it's the same as Enterprise edition. However, you can only install it on a client OS (as far as I know it wont let you install on a server OS).
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.

Not exactly. You can install it anywhere, but it's a single-user/single-connection database...

Developer Edition can be installed on server OS. I have 2008 Developer Edition running on Server '08 here. Not having a MSDN, I had to buy it for $50 I think. When I do move to a newer version, I think I will just use the Express version instead as it does everything I need for free.

.... terrible!
I dunno about you! But I live in Australia, got MSDN subscription, download is slow... and, worse, it sometimes fails!
(At 95% of 3GB ISO for Windows 8.1, argh.....)
They used to have a download manager, what happened to it?!

I just downloaded Windows 8.1 with Update and Visual Studio - because I lost the iso's somewhere and it all completed in less than 20 mins - no complaints.

Well, they have to invert all the bits for you guys. That takes extra time.

Which file? If I can download it (no promises, I only have BizSpark), I could turn it into a torrent for you. Might go a bit better. Then again, maybe not. At least you won't run into corruption or "download hiccuped so you have to start over" nonsense.

Don't worry Harold... I will just download one at a time should work...
I think ETA of tomorrow night is doable!
But thanks hey!

At least w/MS's download manager, I believe they set up their own torrents to speed (when they went from an entire CD to and entire DVD sized downloads).
Fastest I ever got from them was about 2.5M/sec

Why don't they just let you download the torrent file then?
2.5M/sec is kind of bad though, I can seed faster than that without even using a seedbox.

The download manager is still there. I just used it last week. Did you try downloading via Internet Explorer? Or did you use a different browser. My experience is that with Chrome, it's just a bog-standard browser download. Gotta use IE if you want to use the manager.

I haven't for a while (6 months or so) but previously never had a prob downloading from MSDN - just before my subscription ran out I downloaded tons of stuff, just to make sure I had copies locally and they all came down smoothly.
The only time I had problems was on day 1 or 2 of some popular new release when every man and his dog was downloading.
So maybe it's you?
