IMO, renew it when you need it.
Mine expired years ago, and I never renewed it, and have no intention of doing so.

Depends, if you're crossing the border...
in some countries (like turkey) your passport needs to be valid for atleast 1 year upon entering the country (as a foreigner).

Need to do mine, too, as it expires next month.
But the damn photo keeps coming out looking like me.

For some reason, I am stuck on Devil Doll and Squirrel Nut Zippers today. Must be the conversions of FoxPro to VB.Net

For some reason when I saw Squirrel Nut Zippers I thought of this[^] album.

I know the voices in my head are not real but damn they come up with some good ideas!

Seems like "Crawlin' the Walls" by Dave Gross is suitable for this project, as well

Style reminds me of this[^] guy!

Oh, yeah. Haven't thought of him years, I loved his stuff. Try "Pink Martini" - the lead singer sings in English, French, German, Japanese and Arabic(?)

Well actually 3 laptops
My kids currently have chrome books and the eldest also has a really ancient 1st gen Netbook, which is only good wasting energy. With them moving over to Qatar in August, I promised I would get them new ones. The eldest is also doing a lot more homework online and presentations as part of school work, so thought it was time to give up the chromebooks which have served very well for the last few years.
I had been looking around and for some reason kept getting drawn towards Lenovo, so that is what I elected to try.
The youngest has bagged a Yoga 2-13
The eldest has bagged a Yoga 3-14
and I treated myself to a 3rd Generation X1 Carbon......wanted to get the 512SSD version, but they are on a 3-4week lead, so had to just stick with the 256 version so that it arrives in time for me to collect it when I go back to the UK for a week at the end of June. I remember Hanselman was raving about his during a video once, so I thought what the hell.
I'm just calling it a Father's day present to myself, makes the justification easier

I'll have to check out the X1 Carbon, I've been looking to update my old workhorse.

The X1 looks nice - the top of the range is sold out.
Lenovo: why do they still have that stupid button in the middle of the keyboard??? Why??? Why???

I had a think pad many many years ago, and used to love the g-spot on the keyboard, even wore it out and had to replace the rubber.
Wonder if it will get much use this time round!

I took delivery of one of these bad boys a couple of weeks ago. Oh my[^].

Sweet, although looks a bit big to lug around!
Also, 17 inch screen and only 1920x1280 ewwww!

The resolution is fine. I have had higher res laptops in the past, and haven't been that enamoured of them. My last Ultrabook was some insane resolution - a lot of the apps I run had dialogs that looked stupid at that resolution. The text was too small, and the dialogs were tiny.

That's why I avoided some other laptops with 3840x2160 or whatever it is and think the x1 2560x1440 should be a happy balance.

It doesn't feel that bad.

But it's quite stationary, isn't it?

ASUS ROG laptops are awesome! Fully agree there.

I still prefer to use mine to RDP into other machines to have a quick look at things than using a tablet to do the same.

My first generation netbook melted (well they weren't really in a liquid state, but some of them where heavily distorted) my keyboard as it went to running at nearly 100°C (that's 212°F) after about 30 minutes of usage.

Have you made sure that none of them came with malware[^] installed[^] at the factory?
Lenovo changed their images after being busted; but existing laptops in the retail channel weren't recalled for reimaging.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
