How to know when you are past middle-aged: look in the rear-view mirror; if you don't see your rear, you are there.

I've been waiting for my Insider email the entire day (missed a few, but I'm back on WiFi in this hotel), but it never came.
So it's evening now and after a day sightseeing and hiking I'm back in the hotel and thought I'd just read the news on CodeProject and then I found out it's Saturday.
There's never an Insider on Saturday... D'oh!
Funny thing how you forget the days of the week on vacation.
How does that go when you retire and stop working? Isn't every day Saturday?

Being retired is certainly less stressful than working. That said, I sometimes miss the
stimulation that on-the-job problems can bring. Solving problems does give a person enormous satisfaction! I do try to stay engaged by doing some C# programming as a hobby. It's nice not to have to meet deadlines, but I do miss the challenge of deadlines at times.

A friend of mine recently retired early. I asked him how that's going. He said the trick is to keep living in the moment and not think forward I guess to keep from freaking out about it.
My mother in law lost track of days of the week after retiring too.

No, every day is Thursday! Only Thursday has that special mix of feelings of incompleteness, directionlessness, and disjunction!
